Too Many Things At Once
The last few weeks have been super-crazy. As if I didn't have enough to worry about with all the Goats projects going on, I have to worry about leaving my job for one that pays drastically less money (but much more potential), I have to get a freelance gig done, I ahve two back-to-back conventions coming up,and I have to keep up with personal obligations (of course).
So I'm already overloaded, but all of that gets swept aside when Steve Jackson emails me and asks me to illustrate one of his new games. 112 color illustrations in four weeks in a style I'm not entirely familiar with, but damned if I'm not going to try. At least, until we talked money. There's simply no way I can do it for the amount of money he wants to pay. If the sketches were simpler, in my own style, I could whip them out fairly easily. But he wants it in a comic-booky noir style, which means I would be getting paid less per hour than a Kinko's employee. I would love to work with Steve, and I understand the financial constraints he must be under. I wish I could figure out a way to make it work, but I can't. Man, this makes me sad.
