I can't believe that nobody has started discussing Oliver, Diablo's new "son" (even when he was just an egg).

So, do you think he'll be around for a while? Will he be sent to the dreaded Island of Cast-Off Goats Characters with Biff and Chessmaster and the others once his storyline is complete? Will he be a new staple character like Diablo, Fish, Toothgnip, Jon, and Phillip?

At the moment, he seems to be just like Diablo, so unless he has some unique characteristics that make him different, I don't see him sticking around for very long. Of course, we'll just have to wait to be sure, but speculation is fun regardless.

Ah, yes. No denying the inherent fun in working ourselves up over potential plot developments, like character deaths [goats.com]. No denying that fun at all.

The only "Oliver" whom i've ever known was my grandfather, and he was definitely not evil. However, he did like to cook chicken; and coincidentally, his initials were "O.W.L.", so he liked to adorn things with owl knick-knacks, illustrations, hood-ornaments, et cetera.

I think it's the beginning of the end. Look at all the tv shows which added children to extend the seasons by one or two more years. They all sucked (Cosby show anyone).

Hey, now... I didn't say that. I just said he doesn't seem "just like" Diablo. Vulgarity is a likely expression of evil in the immature (such as a one-day-old), so he may be just like Diablo was at his age.

Besides, when you build the baby, it inherits the traits you build into it instead of random traits from your DNA. Trust me on this one; I speak from experience.

And now, some pseudo-random rambling on the subject:

I'm interested to see what Jon intends for this character. I can think of two examples off hand (which counts as vast research in my book) where a character started off seeming almost one-dimensionally Evil[tm] and expressed it as vulgarity or violence. In those cases (Junior, and that switch-blade wielding potato), the character developed away from that theme.

In those cases, it seemed that the author might have intended the character to be defined by base evil, but that such a character couldn't be sustained and remain interesting.

Most of Jon's characters have drifted from the central focus and/or drifted from whatever singular characteristics they had early on. (Example: Jon-the-character is no longer terminally single and pathetic. Howard may still be one-dimensionally angry, but he isn't often seen.)

So, your bets, please: Oliver will be...

A) one-dimensional and infrequent
B) developed into a more interesting character
C) a focal, one-dimensional character, because mea37 is talking out his ass
D) dead within a month

Also, is that a Sheriff Pony toy in the cot?

I don't think I stand alone when I say that this series is one of the ickiest of the past few months. It's what I call a feel-bad, stomach-warming series.

Jon, you sick fuck.

Can I say fuck in these forums? I guess I can.

Anyway, Michael Jackson (aka the Gloved One) is gross even before he starts touching little boys or chickens. And to think, I used to think he was so cool (circa 1984). I feel so betrayed.

One time, in San Diego or somewhere, I drew a zombie peanut. So some of the other guys did too.

Andy Bell made a fairly sweet rendition and incorporated the character into his "Candy Corn of the Damned" poster, albeit craftily disguising the peanut as a zombie candy corn.

I figure if there are zombie peanuts, it stands to reason that there are also vampire peanuts.
