Anyone have a suggestion for a new set of forum titles (the ones that denote karma level that appear under user icons)?

If anyone has a good suggestion for a set of five, I'm game.

I've always been partial to the old Penny Arcade system of leaving everyone titless, and then presenting only those deserving of titles with something arbitrary of your choosing.

As far as a set of five titles goes, though, how about the stages of grief?

Oh, thanks. That'd leave me as "repetitiveness vulture #1".

How about different stages of sentient citrus?
"Incoherent grapefruit", "Semi-conscious ugli fruit", "massively parallel lemon", that sort of thing?

I would like to suggest a theme involving animals. Here are some ideas, which i will immediately admit are sort of lame. If anybody else could think of ways to modify this list and make it funnier, maybe we could cooperatively arrive at a good solution.

old level - - - - - - - new level
lonely goatherd - - anonymous lemur
wage slave - - flavorful pony
junior birdman - - obscene monotreme
advanced pedant - - mighty koala
cold-war supervillain - - Sith hamster
sentient citrus - - Jedi gerbil

There are probably better choices of adjectives, but IMHO those are the funniest animals in the comics.

Well, in the tradition of Triple-J's 'Tell it like it is' and because, as far as I'm concerned, the forum is well and truly taking on its own persona, I feel the user titles could be along the lines of:

1. 'Grovelling Martyr'
2. 'Sidelining Groupie'
3. 'Arsehole Security'
4. 'Smart-mouthed Funnyman'
5. 'Philistine Tyrant'

Just some food for thought.

As for actual suggestions, what about types of goats? Cashmere, Angora, bezoar, Rocky Mountain, etc. I'm not sure how you'd rank them, that may be something to ask Toothgnip.

Maybe they could be different types or brands of beer. Lowest level could be High Life, highest could be whatever your favorite type is. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't actually drink, so I don't know much about the subject.

Or, how about lines from Johnny Cash songs?

How about changing Lonely Goatherd to Whats-his-name?

One of the levels should be called "Dance Dance Revolution Freak".

I like "Cold War Supervillain", but Sentient Citrus has to go. Maybe "Planet Destroyer"? That's a little bit more current.

That's all I got so far.

I'm quite partial to the uppermost three, personally. However, the ranking of Sith under Jedi implies a transformation from evil to good as one moves from the penultimate karma level to the uppermost echelon. Wouldn't logic dictate that Sith would be lowest, with a gradual transformation through the levels to Jedi?

Was that supposed to be "Heffeweissen" or "Heffeweizen"? The two are not quite the same, but both basically refer to wheat beers.

If a Jedi-based system were used, I don't think Sith would be the lowest level. That implies that one starts as Sith and becomes a Jedi. The levels would need to be something like:
Force-sensitive
Padawan/Apprentice (I don't think they've used the word "Padawan" once in any post-ANH materials)
Knight
Master
Hermit (hey, it happened to Obi-Wan & Yoda)

I don't know if the Sith had rankings like this. When they switched to the two-Sith system though, there were only Apprentice and Master ranks. And then there were different allies (or pawns)...

Hmm...perhaps I've said too much. I think my geekiness is showing.

No, the Sith didn't really have levels beyond two. See, they liked the Apprentice/Master dynamic, and never really bothered developing finer definitions.

Academics have postulated several reasons for this, but conclusive evidence points to the fact that generally, this is because either the master or the apprentice died when the apprentice attempted to usurp the nonexistent Sith throne.

Don't forget, they were evil.

Yea, they were kinda not-nice. I got the impression that typically the apprentice would kill the master once he became powerful enough. It was kind of expected.

No point in having more than two levels when only two there are.

Actually, i just wanted 'Hamster' to be the highest level. This comic [goats.com] was very amusing, and so the notion of a 'Jedi Mouse' gave me the idea.

Then i remembered this comic [goats.com] and this comic [goats.com], so i thought a funny gerbil reference would be a good choice for the second-highest echelon. 'Sith' was a descriptor that i chose simply because it vaguely related to/contrasted with the 'Jedi' term.

But i didn't really intend the delineation of titles to be based on Star Wars iconography. I was just trying to pick some silly qualifiers to accompany the list of animals. Perhaps it would be more appropriate if the choices were specifically Goats.com-related.
