Today's (10/24) strip

Jon's reaction is out of character. Not unbelievably out of character, but usually Jon would just give up in the face of stunning, blunt rejection.

If this is the one day in his life he's decided to stand up for himself, well, it's a good day to do that.

So the other way it's out of character is in his use of good judgment.

Except that, quite a while ago, Jon said that he was going to be making efforts to have Jon improve, and become more mature and otherwise show "growth" (as opposed to growths).

So I agree that it's "out of character" for Jon-as-he-was-in-volume-3, but not "out of character" for Jon-as-he-is-now-in-volume-5.

Come on, if you destroyed Phobos, wouldn't you want some recognition for it? He can't just let her ignore that.

And the rather pathetic not-quite-begging tone of the whole thing is very in character.

Poor Jon. I hope she's really changing her mind.

Of course she's changing her mind! Look at her eyes, man. The way she's turning them suggests that she's all but melted for him.

Kudos to Jon (not the cartoon, but the cartoonist). He sure knows how to make a whole emotional impression out of just two little dots. Of all the web comic artists I've seen, he has the best range of eye-expressiveness, often using only eyes to express a realm of emotional and mental states.

Aw. Today's wrapup to the storyline makes me feel all squishy inside.

Although, if they're not boyfriend/girlfriend even, "just dating", does that mean they can see other people? Meaning they can bring other people home, to their shared apartment?

I would say I see threesomes in Jon's future, but that would just be TOO out of alignment with the Goats universe. Diablo would come knocking on the door trying to sell them on the Book of Mormon while they're in the middle of it.

Or he'd be the "three" in "threesome".
