Hanging out with Jon at the Peculier Pub.
posted Saturday, October 11, 2003 - 02:14 PM (#9524)
I had an idea where there would be a contest, i dunno what it would entail but the prize would be a few rounds with Jon at the pub. I dunno, I thought it would be a good idea and I was thinking of passing the idea to jon but I wondered what you thought of it...

I have a great idea for the contest.

Everyone wins!

The entry fee can be a bit steep, but it covers airfare and hotel stay and food and beer money.

And for those of us on the west coast or (god forbid) England or Austrialia, that airfare just jumped to a pretty unreasonalbe sum. I would love to meet Jon, but I don't have the money to eat food, let alone fly to NYC. That's why it's best to convince Jon that your local Con is worthy of his time and money. Seattle Rocks Jon!

This is Capitalism [goats.com] for contests.

Communism has no entry fees.

Just exit fees.

Instead, the link was the word Capitalism [goats.com].

Anyone who is interested in meeting us at the pub can do so without winning a contest. It's as simple as going there on a night that we are also there.

Note that showing up does not preclude us from ignoring you or making derisive comments to your face if we think you are an idiot.

At the very least, I understood you.

My fiance visited New York with her college about two years ago. I told her she should stop by the Peculier Pub and get Jon's and Phillip's autographs if possible. She didn't have time, though :(.

Perhaps you could have demonstrated the correct use of words as links by linking the word Doofus [goats.com]. Then understanding could be for everyone, and not just for smart people!

I also thought you were female, and was feeling comforted and reassured by the possibility of there being another chick engineer [goats.com] on the forums. Now I have been rudely awakened.

As an aside, if you are an engineer, belching and keg stands won't necessarily disprove your womanhood.

I think all your avatar needs is a Phillip chin, and you should be right.

To be honest I'm not sure in real life what shape Phillips chin is, but in the comic it is the most manly.

True, but most female engineers I've been in contact with have not done both belching and keg standing, so I figured it'd be pretty safe bet.

Agreed, though, that a Phillip chin is most manly. Remind me to edit myself one someday. Or not.

Not cruel. Clever. He has learned the value of pre apologising.

The main advantage is that with a pre apology in place there is no feeling of remorse that can slow down the obnoxious drunken behaviour and so it becomes even more fun trying to out do each other at the pre apologised person's expense.

I concede your point. Mastering both is an art form sadly neglected by the sisterhood. Mastering both simultaneously is just sadly neglected in general, I think ...
