Just thought you kids might be interested to know that Goats had it's single best month in July, with a 45% increase in page views from the month before (14% increase in unique hosts). That's extremely amazing for a summer month, when most college folks are out getting drunk in the great outdoors instead of getting drunk in dormrooms with LAN connections.

Not surprisingly, much of that boost centered around the time when we were at Comic-Con. I'm guessing those flyers must have been fairly effective.

If we stay on track, things will go up yet again for September, which is traditionally our highest-traffic month of the year.

Yay!

Do you have public jpgs of these flyers? I'm somewhat intrested in the layout/gist of guerrilla advertising this effective.

Not readily available, and that would be way down on my to-do list. Basically, it's a header with the logo and URL, then three strips stacked, and then a footer with the URL again and something like "an online comic strip by Jonathan Rosenberg". And three more strips in an identical layout on the back.

The basic idea is to get samples into people's hands so they can read them. My art isn't the most enticing from across a crowded room (just putting up artwork samples is enough for most folks to get people's attention), but the writing is fairly convincing.

Mcgrue,
look at the top picture of Diesel Sweeties Comic-Con [dieselsweeties.com] report. The guy in the loud plaid shirt has in his left hand what I believe is the flyer Jon described.

If you scroll down to the "John Allison makes with the Chat-Up." picture you can see a stack of them too.

Great news... hopefully you've won some people over, and will come back when they get back to their lan connections and binge drinking.

What an ass kicking festival that was indeed! Nothing like a rising bandwidth bill to make you feel successful, eh? ;)

And the dumbrella table kicked ass and was very prominant in a high traffic area that was still spacious enough for people to stand in. (The second day rearrangement helped too, I think.)

Glad the con was such a success for you.

Just curious, what is the actual traffic for goats.com in an average month? 45% is impressive and everything but it's only like 9 people if your typical traffic is 20 visits (i know it's much larger, but I'm working on a point...). Of course, if you have a typical traffic of like 20,000 then your increase would be like 9,000 more people. And that concludes my lesson in percentages.
