What's the consensus that only someone Jewish could get away with the "Auschwitz Crematorium" line? While I think it's a hysterical line, I fear if a non-Jew came out with it there would be such a backlash of insensitivity and racist attacks that the author would have to appologize.

This is why I hate political correctness. Things are funny until they are about your particular race, sex, etc.

As my mother would say: (insert nagging accent) "It's all fun and games until somebody gets their religious sensitivities poked out."
I've gotta say though that I think PC-ness has its uses and i think i would be offended if just anyone was making Aushwitz jokes...

Everything's funny, son. One of the things I find most humorous is when an oversensitive fool says something's not funny. I just think of it as a higher-evolved form of schadenfreude.

Tragedies are necessary. I’m sure we’ve all heard, that without pain in life, there could be no pleasure.

To remember is necessary. Ignoring what happened does not make it go away, it simply opens the door for it to happen all over again.

To be somber and remorseful while remembering is not necessary.

I don’t think poking fun at the shit and anguish of life is showing any disrespect. Rather, I believe it is demonstrating the amazing human ability to heal and move on.

On a related note a guy my parents age that lived down the road from me when I was young went to a fancy dress party wearing a gas company outfit with the logo "Use Gas, 6 million jews can't be wrong". Despite being jewish he didn't get a lot of laughs from many people...

Icky jokes help keep the memory of things alive better than memorials I figure... or at least as well.
