Mourning the loss of Forums
posted Friday, November 06, 2009 - 06:44 PM (#49996)
It's just really sad. There was a time-- a time which seemed to last for a good six or seven years, in my experience-- during which these forums were a frequent source of pleasure. The jokes, contests, general appreciation and fandom of all things Goats, the chit-chat about favorite comics and T-shirts and other swag... these were all things that brought happiness via my computer several times each week. I looked forward to hitting the "Forums" hyperlink on my comics-email. Even after the loss of Premium Goats, there was still a time during which we could find plenty to appreciate in this subsection of the website.

But now the total degeneration into one huge pile of spamshit is just so sad. The fuckheads who spend their time destroying other other people's lovely websites with the barrage of spam are some of the worst scum online. This saddens me so much. I will really truly miss the nice Forums we had back here.

Well, so long, and thanks for all the Fish. At least i can still enjoy the comic emailed to my inbox thrice weekly. And i still get compliments for my awesome Goats T-shirts wherever i wear them. Everything changes, i guess, and life moves on.

Yeah, that's the state of things, there are better ways to interact and the code for these forums isn't really being maintained, so it's probably for the best that we shut the whole thing down. This is not the only webcomic forum to have gone this route.

I'm shutting off comments and forums as soon as Phillip has the time and inclination to do so, which hopefully will be sooner rather than later.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
