Happy National Cartoonists' Day, Jon. Is there some sort of special celebration we're supposed to indulge in to celebrate your kind?

If there is, I'd wager it has something to do with drinking large quantities of non-American beer.

No, no, no... That's merely Jon's way of celebrating!

We should... uh... drink... *sigh* Yeah, you're right: large quantities of non-American beer. But that's only because American beer sucks.

Bah! I say.

You're just drinking the wrong American beer. I can almost guarantee that regardless of where you live in America these days, there are at least three purveyors of fine American made beer within a reasonable distance from you.

Where? Oh god, please tell me where!

I live in Tampa, FL just blocks away from Busch Gardens [buschgardens.com], public relations centerpiece of the Anheuser-Busch empire.

I've been looking for three years for a local purveyor of fine American made beer, and have all but given up hope.

Share with me your wisdom and I will worship you like corporate america worships the color green.

And when you do find your quality local beers you might consider exchanging them with other Goats American beer crusaders [goats.com]. (Stupid high cost of international shipping is precluding our non-American counterparts to exchange.)

Well, the 'American made' part is correct, and it is indeed 'beer', but having gone there several times, I've yet to find the word 'fine' as an accurate description of the TBBC.

There are actually a few micro-brews around town that aren't completely BAD...but I've still yet to find one that thrills me.

Perhaps, I'm just picky...or snobbish...who knows.

I use 'fine' as an equivalent to 'better than Budweiser or the Beast' - that is to say 'drinkable and not unpleasant'.

If you want to find 'good' local beer, you'll have to go on a tasting spree.

i find it incredibly hard to believe that it's a coincidence that National Cartooners day and Cinco de Mayo coincide. Honestly, why not just call it, Let's-Get-The-Drawers-Drunk-Day. I think we could find some sponsers very close...
