Hey, I was wondering if the characters of Lynda, Stephanie, Siobain, Lori, and Tommy actually exist in real life, and how close to the real people are the comic characters in terms of personality. There's a really old comic in the archives that says that Lori is real, but what about the rest? How much do the comic versions resemble them? Could we see pictures of them? Naturally, if they don't want a bunch of idiots on a webcomic messageboard oogling over their pictures then that's perfectly ok (that's the second time I've used the word "oogling" today).

Also, how do you pronounce "Siobain"?

This [goats.com] should partly answer your questions. And give a strong hint as to the rest.

Cheers,

Wow, how did I miss that?

Pretty cool anyway. Had to set my monitor's brightness to "kill", but other than that it was quite informative.

Siobain is pronounced "Shiv"(like in shiver)-on" by my friend with the same name. I believe it's Irish.

It should be Irish. My wife's name is Siobhan, and her name is Irish.

Siobain is apparently (according to my wife) the same name spelled slightly differently.

This has nothing to do with why I read Goats.

and is, along with Saiorse (pronounced sor-sha), one of my favorite Irish names. I even named my car Saiorse, after a refrigerator in the book Round Ireland with a Fridge, which I highly recommend.

These odd spellings of what seem to be quite easily pronounced names came about when the Irish would drink too much and slur their words (which is 99.9% of the time), therefore, over the years, the names lost their original pronuciation, and became the more easily pronounced words they are today.

Oh, so you just have to be drunk to pronounce them! Now I have a reason to start drinking.

Nah. All Gaelic spellings are specifically to piss off the English.
