Todays game? Looks like Joust to me. Now that is a great game... if it's not Joust, it ought to be.

It most certainly does look like Joust. My hat's off to the powers that be for bringing the Atari into the limelight it so richly deserves. I'd say that an Atari certainly makes some of us feel old, but I think that would be redundant [goats.com].

By the way, I think that an Armored Hobo Division certainly sounds like a better idea than an Armed/Mounted Hobo Division, which would follow the formula:
Hobos + Horses = Very Shabby Mounties
(either that or snobby, rich, 12 year-old girl-hobos).

I hope it's Joust. The sounds effects are from Joust, anyway.

Well, Jon, how does it feel to be validated as an artist in this manner? In the entire world, two, count them two of your readers were pretty sure they knew what you were drawing! Good work!

One question though, was there research involved in remembering the sound effects, or have they somehow imbedded themselves in your psyche? The latter has happened to me more than I'd care to admit.

Latter, for certain. It's one of my all-time favorites.

I'll be playing it as soon as my Nintendo Entertainment System arrives, which seems to be taking its sweet time getting here.

Do parcels frequently get held up in customs crossing the Canada-US border?

I once got held up at the Canada-US border. Turns out such travel planning as "Fly from St. Louis, MO to Toronto, then drive to Rochester" don't amuse the border guards much...

There goes any chance of a new Patent Pending this month.

I have better, more legitimate-sounding excuses already planned. My new computer should be showing up in a few days, and that'll need to be set up before I can color the strip, of course.

That's pretty much the main reason why I bought one. I don't have time to do any gaming like I used to (man, I miss the days when I could play video games all day and call it research), so my old machine was up to the task of handling most fo the ordinary stuff I did on it.

Photoshop ran like a dog whenever I did a Patent Pending, though -- some of the files get super-huge, since I create them at print resolutions. The lighting and shading and various conputer constructions use up tons of layers -- the original files are often bigger than 100megs, which made my poor machine cry.

Hopefully this will improve my productivity somewhat. If it does, it may mean good things for the site.
