how the mighty have fallen

There's a fun article about what Stephan Paternot [observer.com] is up to these days over at the Observer -- apparently not a whole lot. For those of you who don't know who Steph is, he was Phillip's old boss over at theglobe.com before Phillip wisely escaped.

For those of you wondering about Steph's inclination towards clubbing and women, let's just say that one of my nights out with him (or, should I say, the one time I agreed to go clubbing with him -- I considered it an anthropological study) provided the initial inspiration [goats.com] for one of our characters.

Note to Jon:

Let this serve as a cautionary tale as to why you can never let Phillip leave your internet ventures. I'd hate to be reading about you in this sort of story two years down the road...

So you'll neither confirm nor deny that you agree with the sentiment expressed? Fair enough.

The rest of the article does an excellent job of damning with faint praise.

Phillip, maybe we could make that a premium feature.

If you're gonna burn some bridges, you might as well make some money off 'em.

The NY Observer also has a very strong anti-dot com bias, so as much as ...enjoyed... much of the story, I also don't believe a lot of what this particular paper says in stories like this. It tends to be as fair and balanced as ...well... Fox News.
