I especially like your use of blue pencils to really nail the layout of the strip before committing to ink. Your love of the artform is conveyed by your meticulous culling of subpar lightning bolts. And too many artists these days are heavy handed in their burrito shading, so it's a pleasure to see the effervescant beauty of a burrito shaded with the delicate touch that only one with girly long hair could master....

I would go so far as to say i see the outlines of a great impressionistic style in philip's work. The blue pen is evocative of french (freedom?) artist paul klee in his hay day...Hats off gentlemen, a genius.

of course, one must also take into account it's resemblance to the Italian movements surrounding WWI, such as futurism. He deploys a very picasso-esque sense of collage and labelling, combining it with the Futurist mentality of opposing jagged lines and forms, generating a fresh, new avant garde style heralding the new artistic freedoms of the twenty first century.

In my final critique of phillip's recent project, i would like to say that he has shown himself unwilling to shy away from the danger's of concept art. The "cape lines" in his recent work show a maturity that was lacking in the previous three strips. In the tradition of Modernity's finest, phillip has shown us that God really is in the details. Thank you phillip, thank you.
