jon's secret life (and others')
posted Tuesday, August 27, 2002 - 02:40 PM (#1383)
This may be an open secret that I have just discovered, but I strongly suspect that our own jon is also this jon [memepool.com] who contributes to memepool.

I have two questions.

1) Does anyone else have web alter egos they'd like to share? I myself am a frequent contributor to LinkFilter [linkfilter.net] and I occasionally send items I find of interest to LISNews [lisnews.com] and other library-related web presences. I'd also like to throw in a plug for my personal reading log [danchan.com].

2) How did jon do it? I have sent two contributor applications to memepool and have yet to get anything in response. I'm miffed!

I was going to say something about toaster pancakes, but then I realized that would be an altered eggo, which is not what you asked about.

Wow. I'm glad I read the whole forum before posting, 'cause I damned near posted this same thing over in the Ring of Fire. C'mon, Jon, fess up. We know it's you.

I suspect he got to be a contributor by virtue of being one of their first links [memepool.com].

I'm proud to say that memepool led me to goats in the first place. I'd also like to mention that this whole discussion displays an uncomfortable e.e. cummings fixation.

Right, jon?

I deny nothing -- it is indeed me.

I have a two-step process for becoming a memepool contributor:

1) Draw a webcomic that Joshua (the memepool guy) likes.

2) Hang out with Joshua over beers (or at animation festivals) occasionally.

It's really quite simple.

Oh, and I'd like to add that I'm impressed with your detective skills. It only took you folks three years to figure it out.

And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids....

Actually, it took 3 years for you to get a forum up, so you could make forum/news posts that look remarkably similar to memepool posts.

(Nevermind that bit where you linked to the memepool over in Goats News...)

This is my alter-ego. In real life, I'm a 14-yr old blonde girl using the internet for the first time and looking for a little excitement.

Well, I post on many message boards and forums, but always under this name, so I guess that doesn't count.

Come to think about it.. not many. Then again, i don't know that many people on this "outside world" beyond the soft glow of my monitor.

I post on many a mesaage board, when i have time. Which isn't often because my boss likes to make me work all weekend, & in the week I must, sadly, go to school.

You know that you really don't have to go, right? Well, unless you want to do that passing thing that some do, but really, it's overrated.

By the way, you don't happen to know where 6th year sophmores can get jobs do you?
