Dances with Lemurs?
posted Monday, August 19, 2002 - 01:33 PM (#1263)
Running through some of the early archives, I found myself faced with a question. One which I cannot properly ponder at this time, as I don't have a beer, but which perhaps is worth asking here.

What happened to Neil and Bob's navigator?

I always figured he ran off with the Koala.

Or got lost on the subway.

Didn't Jerrel eat him?

However, were Neil and Bob to read that, their interpretation of what happened to the navigator would be somewhat different than what I meant.

While I'm not certain of this navigators fate, I'm fairly sure he went the way of all other navagators that aren't crucial to the plot line.

...Meaning he had an alien ram its ovum depositing tube down his throat and lay an egg in his chest, which subsiquently bacame a baby alien who clawed its way out of his cest in the messiest and most painful manner imagineable.

I suspect he made a poor fashion choice and put a red shirt on one morning, a potentially fatal mistake for any memeber of a star ship crew.

i don't remember the navigator... was he a lemur? or is this merely a random reference to a quite intriguing animal?

He obviously sacrificed himself, and the world, to destroy the evil aliens with butts for heads. What a noble creature he was.

I think we should all have a moment of silence for him.

Okay, that's enough.

He took his place among the people of the likidiki tribe, from whom he was named. Chief Stroking Hamsters has taken him in as his own son.

After posting an answer of my own, I found what really happened to him. Direct from Drew Johnson on the Goats: The FAQ.

I. Goats: The Strip

Q: In the strip on August 31, 1997, Neil (or Bob?) mention their navigator, "Dances With Lemurs", but he's never appeared in the strip. Where is he/she/it?
A: Dances with Lemurs had an unfortunate accident while Bob and Sex Dwarf were playing "Imelda Marcos in Chains". Let's just say that it involved Manolo Blahnik pumps, some belly chains, and a lot of bad images that keep this writer up nights.

Sorry about the lack of "links", but I can't seem to get it to work right.
