Mmm... satire...

*sniff sniff* What's that I smell? In today's (7-31) comic [goats.com]? Is that... satire? I love the smell of satire in the morning...

Not enough information just yet, though. Diablo's pony could be a lot of things... I'm guessing AB, just because of the use of the pony in the first place.

I shoulda read this first - I just replied on the same topic in "They Blew up the (Frickin'? Freakin'?) Earth?"

I'm going to guess Frank Cho, based on what I know about lashing out at the other smaller ponies.

i don't think its about a silly gamer comic. its about diablo's earlier stint with webcomics. http://www.goats.com/archive/010430.html I believe this is the link.

I say it's a jab at Scott Kurtz.

I also have no idea what or who AB is. While PA could be called a one-trick pony, Tycho has never really gone after people like Kurtz has.

Ah, sorry about that. I'm in St. Louis, where AB automatically expands to Anheuser-Busch. It was really a semi-random guess, and in retrospect probably not a very good one. On the other hand, it appears we're destined never to find out what, if anything, Diablo was actually mocking, which makes my guess as good as any other :)

That is, of course, unless there's a common thread running through the past couple weeks' strips, involving one trick ponies, crab city, government conspiracies, and cream-food-based planning... Damned if I know, but it sounds like the basis for a pretty good movie.

The "thread" of the current series is referred to in the title... I'll leave it up to you folks to figure out what it means, although it has little to do with the strips' content.

Based upon the terms 'chain' and 'gang' I'm now leaning towards Keenspot as being the target of this series' strips. Keenspot is certainly a chain, and at times it can even be gang-like, so that all makes sense.

If the target is Keenspot, it would also help explain why the comics have so little to do with each other; each could be mocking a different strip.

Oh jeez. You make me repeat myself.

It has nothing to do with the content. I'm not making fun of any Keenspotters. It's just a bunch of random jokes with no theme at all.

But there is a gimmick.

Incidentally, which alien is in the 8/7 strip?

Chain Gang?

Obviously all this strips have something to do witht he life and times of one of music's greats, namely Sam Cooke.

That is unless that other little gimmick I noticed is the real one.
