i was just wondering how long is took other people to read the whole series, if in fact they have, and how long everyone has been reading.

I think I started reading about 3 years ago. At the time, I went through the archives a little each day over the course of a month or so. The day I ran out of archives to read was a sad day indeed.

I started reading over a year ago, and read the archive within a week or two of starting the comic. Then I read through it again and saved them all to my harddrive so I can enjoy the Goaty-goodness even when my internet connection is down. Then I went through and titled all the comics I had saved based on series, and noticed there were non-series comics stuffed between them, so I had to save and title those too. Can I have someone put a comma and the word "sad" after my score?

i think the record time for me to get through the archives is something like 12 hours, but its getting more and more difficult to do that now, especially when I start to hallucinate due to lack of sleep, which, on the other hand, sometimes makes the strip even better.

you may not realize it, but there are actually little floating green goblins that live in pub. i think you have to be awake for 48 hours or more and running on seven pots of coffee to see em, but they are there.

I started reading it about 4 years ago, so I only had a 2 years or so worth of archives to read. It wasn't that much of a problem, since someone was paying me 8 hours a day to do 'internet stuff' and I wanted to find stuff out about goats.

took me about 2 days to get through that.

When I first read the whole archive, it took me about a day, but that was back in 1998

I even remember what strip I saw first. I remember thinking, any artist who comes up with eat jello or die [goats.com] is destined for greatness, so I'd better stick around.

I started reading Goats on August 12, 1997 cause I voted [goats.com] for Howard. Jon sent me a reply since I wrote about hoping he would get syndicated.
Ah, I remember those days when Jon posted links to copies of his unfortunate rejection letters. Those were the days...

I've been reading since about Feb. of '98. My college roommate had an unhealthy fascination of everything goat related, so it was inevitable that we'd eventually stumble upon a comic with the same name.

It was much easier to get through the archives back then, but now, it'll still only take me one slow day at work. How far we have come...

I started reading the strip on New Year's 2003 when a friend drew my attention to the final panel of this strip [goats.com]. He thought i would be amused because he knew of my predilection for Crisco and its many splendid uses [207.236.16.220]. I was intrigued by the humorous characters, and have been hooked ever since. I gradually worked my way through the archives over the past five months and just finished reading them all recently.

It seems like the Cheese of Evil [goats.com] series was somewhat prescient (three years in advance) regarding the hijacked commercial airliner taking out a building in Manhattan. And i was glad to see that Jon's sense of humor at the end of September, 2001, was unflagging.

So during the Crab City series, was i the only reader who nearly fell on the floor laughing at the hotwired hoverdachshund [goats.com]?! I still can't really say why i found it so funny, but somehow i think there is true genius under the layers of sarcastic bedlam and kvetching.

I seem to remember a long night in 0xD5 reading the entire archive, sometime in early '98. Or maybe I was skipping some class I should have been in. Who knows. I'd like to be able to claim originating the goats meme among the LusArs, but I can't be sure -- it could just be flashbacks. I'm fairly sure I was the one who found the site, though, at some point just randomly typing in www.[something amusing].com into the web browser to see what came up. *shrugs*

I started reading during my freshman year of college, back around September 1999. I typed "www.goats.com" in my browser, just to see what would come up. I read through the archives during the rest of that day. Took me around 7 hours back then.

On a good tear, I can still make it through the archives in 12-14 hours.

Funny... I always associate 48 with the thousand-yard-stare syndrome. You know, between the second and third wind when everything kinda stretches out and you really wish you hadn't just given the Red Bull executives their third yacht.

The mindless giddiness usually comes just a few hours before the seeing stuff. However, I've never seen more than darkness encroaching all around the center of my vision, like inverse cataracts.
