I've been wondering as things are getting worse for the prisoners if the new James Bond was any inspiration for these latest strips...

... which is also a good excuse to ask people if they've seen it (JB and not the strip - or actually both) and what they thought.

I thought the urethra weasels were at least partly inspired by the candiru [wikipedia.org]'s interesting behavior [straightdope.com].

And no, I haven't seen DC as JB in CR, and probably won't have an opportunity.

Any torture scene that doesn't involve bagpipes [wikipedia.org] can't be considered too gruesome.

I think Jon just liked the sound of the phrase "urethra weasel".

I quite liked the new Casino Royale.

In particular, I found the title sequence to be spectacular. There have been a lot of other attempts at that kind of title sequence, but all the ones I can think of have completely missed the mark. This one was spot on, well done, and I found it really gorgeous.

The film itself was a hallmark of the genre, and delivered on all it's promises.

yeah, i just saw it last night -- it was pretty damned good for a Bond film. I'd like to see them build on what they did with this one and create a nuanced, layered character.

But I doubt that will happen.

That said, I've known the characters were going to be tortured for quite some time now. The manner of the torture, that was just one of those spur-of-the-moment things.

Aside from the title sequence, the part that really impressed me most was the drowning bit.

It was unflinching.

Otherwise, yes,
it was pretty damned good for a Bond film. I'd like to see them build on what they did with this one and create a nuanced, layered character.

MK, a new career in a new town must be demanding...

zamphir, I thought pretty much the same thing. I was skeptical about it but the film was really good and Daniel Craig makes a good Bond against my expectations. Some of the stuff was also quite funny and actually the best part of the character was the "weaknesses" he showed.

And M. Overlord of Chickens, yes, I can imagine that you have these things planned ahead for quite some time. My remark was more about the style of the torture. Plus any intersection with a popular recent movie is funny/intriguing/wecome/all of the above.

What do you think this is, a Good Hitler movie?
