Am I just slightly slow to have gotten that joke, or is it not a joke at all and I'm clutching at straws. Either way, the question above. Discuss.

It's an extremely terrible joke, sometimes I cannot help myself.

Most times, come to think of it.

I was borrowing the Brock character, somehow it made sense to me to acknowledge that within the strip by balancing it with a very obvious acquisition/parody/influence/what have you.

Does that make sense to anyone but me?

I'm just wondering why Rob seems to be checking Phillip's teeth or mouth in the comic strip from August 23rd [goats.com]? Is this some sort of gift-horse joke which went right over my head? And why is my head under a horse?

Whenever Phillip meets a native Topekan, they check his teeth. It's kind of a greeting. Like Spock and the split-hand thing.

My question Jon, are they checking in the horse-trading sense, or the prison-bitch sense?
