Thursday Cliffhanger: 30 March 2006
posted Thursday, March 30, 2006 - 06:22 PM (#33349)

Hunab Ku, the Creator of the Multiverse, has finally appeared [1]. Sort of.

[1] 30 March 06 [goats.com]

POLL: Which Mayan deity will show up next?

10% (2) Itzamna, son of Hunab Ku. Phillip is his avatar. Not in the little forum picture sense, the original sense.

15% (3) Ah Puch, King of Metnal. Actually, we've seen him before; he's One Death.

36% (7) Acan, the god of wine. The Mayans didn't seem to have a god of beer. Draw your own inferences about how that is related to the downfall of their civilization.

15% (3) Backlum Chaam. Well, maybe not on Topeka Prime.

21% (4) Ah Muzencab, because good slapstick demands that Phillip be attacked by a swarm of bees.
19 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

Hunab Ku is the HAXOR, not the coder.

Don't they make CS professors learn to read code these days? I know they don't really let them write it - in the same way they don't let VP's of software development write code.

And for most of the same reasons, too.

sounds like code bloat to me. if you use a language like perl, you don't have to comment a single thing since it doesn't help anyway.

always use a language that, when programmed well, is indistinguishable from an MD5 checksum.

You seem to have me confused with danav. (Actually, just the first six words of that sentence are correct.) If you met us in person, you would probably be able to tell us apart. It will be easier after my forum posts acquire the accent that habitual consumption of Breckenridge [breckbrew.com] and New Belgium [newbelgium.com] brewery products will bring.

Actually, Z has his own evil twin [goats.com].

I think Z is just deliberately passing on the karma (in the orignal sense, not the Goats sense) of being mistaken for someone else [goats.com]. Now I'm probably expected to do likewise.

Has anyone ever seen us both in the same place, btw?

No, some macroscopic corollary of the Pauli exclusion principle probably prevents that.

Right now, I hear a firm mattress and medium-soft pillow calling me.

OK, padawan, it's yours this week, because my weekend is getting busier by the minute.

You have more than enough karma to do a poll. Click "start a discussion" under the Options menu to the left. Underneath the Comment box, click the box for "Attach a Poll to this Discussion". The rest should be clear.

Do not click the Preview button until after you have entered at least two poll options.

Make me proud.

Hmm either I've gone blind or there is no such option for me, as there are no checkboxes between 'Comment' and 'Preview' on my post creation screen. Perhaps polls, like img tags, are reserved exclusively for you Premiumers? Or maybe the forum is still buggy with the recent changes.

If a solution isn't posed by the end of the day, I'll just abandon the secret ballot and do a manual poll that asks people to vote via replies to the discussion. For now though, I'm going to go rest my haven't-slept-in-26-hour head.

Alternately, If you want a normal poll, I can make one late tomorrow night. Or someone else can.

I could do one now, but I'm about to leave until late tomorrow night, so the poll would be very boring.

Example:

"Why does predestination make Middle Pangaeans angry?"

1. Predestination killed their mothers.

2. Predestination stole their salami.

3. Fish

Interesting, Mysticalone. What makes you think those are Middle Pangaeans. They are indeed heavily armed, but don't look that much like Toshi, Glock, or Grif. They DO look a good bit like Jebediah of Worlds of Peril. And y'know, if he's a Pangaean, that might help to explain the level of tension between him and Prak...

Tangent: Jon, can non-Preemies read Worlds of Peril now that there's no more Premium membership?
