Thursday Cliffhanger Poll
posted Thursday, November 10, 2005 - 05:21 AM (#30235)
It figures that Jon would slow down the pace the week after the first TCP [goats.com] appeared. It seems Fineas won't jack in until after Jon is back from his vacation.

Nevertheless, we have to have something to show to the boss when he gets back to make it look like we were busy.

Fineas and Oliver will soon meet in the intermultiversenet thingy. The opening verbal sparring [goats.com] ("smack", if you prefer) is an important component of any confrontation of this sort.

POLL: What will be Fineas' first words to Oliver?

0% (0) Sorry, can we move this along please? I'm on dial-up and I've used up all of my ISP's free hours.

29% (7) Nice headless corpse! Hot Topic or a local shop?

20% (5) Your days of malefaction end here, Oliver. No more malefactoring for you. Fish, let me handle this.

25% (6) It's over, Oliver. My deck has been reinforced beyond your wildest imagination. I summon Dark Magician Girl! And then I'll place one card face down, ending my turn.

25% (6) I don't think I can finish this. Do you want half? It's salami and havarti on rye.
24 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

Apologies for taking poll options seriously but:

Dial-up.

Dial-up?

I thought we all knew that Fish is an immortal zombie cyborg USB 1.1 host device. [goats.com]

In Response to Euan (#30239):

Sorry to disillusion you, but...

Fish may be USB1.1 compliant, but we don't know for sure if his goggles are 802.11(a/b/g) compliant, and WiMax hasn't been deployed in that dimension yet either.

So it's entirely possible that the laptop is connected to the intermultiuniversenet over an acoustically coupled modem running at 300 baud.

I mean, it would explain some of God's response times, wouldn't it?

And, for those who seem confused. USB1.1 != da interwebthingy.

Even if there is a network bridge in there somewhere, connecting him to some ungodly speed pipe, the connection into his skull is still bottlenecked at 11Mbit.

Well, Euan's criticism of the first poll option may have missed the mark, but the results so far show what I knew all along: it's the least humorous option. Not surprisingly, it was also the last one I wrote.

It isn't hard to guess what the next TCP will be, because Oliver has to have his turn. If you have any suggestions for poll options, please post them here. I won't use them, but at least you'll amuse everyone. And if you think of an option I was going to use, you'll irritate me, which should make the exercise even more appealing.

Well, as expected, none of your options showed up. You know, Jon was totally going to use option #4 until you wrote it. So now they'll have to have a more traditional non-mustache fight.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
