the extra e is for excitement
posted Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 07:13 AM (#29307)
Gary Busey seems to have added an extra 'e' to his name. Either that or the unthinkable has happened and there is a small spelling mistake in today's strip.

Plus, how do you make leather in a factory?!?!?

What?

Really?

Oh my.

Remember, kids, don't write your passwords down where your multiple personalities can find them.

'Cause knowing is half the battle.

Being there.

Being there is half the battle. I could be at a pub night with, for example, RoboNun, Dynedain, and you... and I could say "remember that awesome Rafael Palmeiro joke I made at SPX?". Then you'd laugh, and I would say to RoboNun and Dynedain "I guess you had to be there".

That would be the "joke" that got you a series of blank stares as the crickets chirped in the background?

See, if you'd been there, you'd know that this was not actually a save.

Because nobody who was there, other than me and the guy who writes Partially Clips, thought the joke had any possibility of being funny.

So, I knew Gary would react the way he did, and had chosen my initial comments to induce that reaction, and planned my response to the reaction I planned he'd make. Sometimes I'm *not* just making it up as I go along.

He used slightly different words than I was expecting, but his interface card has been acting up recently anyway.

Or, as Tynic has observed, Zammy will make it up as he goes along and claim retroactively that whatever he pulled out of his ass was his plan all along.

Elegant in its Machiavellian simplicity, but it requires a certain effort to keep the tottering card tower that is his house of lies from becoming a tangled web of useless metaphors.

Or something.

This includes occasionally *not* making it up as I go along. As a placebo.

Masquerading as a metaphor.

Or something.
