I don't think Jon is anti-moustachio. Pablo and Diablo have probably just chosen the natural way to resolve disputes amongst soldiers and establish leadership hierarchies.

Ann and Abby never had one trillionth of the audacity of The Animals. Maybe the sisters just needed more facial hair; somehow i still doubt that would have given them more appeal to me.
