Contest: ChopShopping the Pub
posted Friday, December 03, 2004 - 01:59 PM (#23277)
This is an even less unofficial contest (except if it shows up on the News page), sponsored by me. Jon & Phillip will deny all involvement with it, and have plans to burn the negatives.

The Contest:
[jaral.org](link to larger version, should open in new window, but doesn't)

Here we see a typical scene of two louts and their bar maid. Please utilize the graphic/photo editor of your choice to rework, enhance, or otherwise mangle this soothing restful image to produce something else. As is typical in these things, the only basic rule is “Final image must contain at least some measurable part of the original image”. Also, works that are apparently too derivative of other works may be disqualified at the discretion of the judges.

Post your final images here, or if you do not have a reliable image host, contact me and arrangements will be made.

Eligibility:
This contest is also only open to registered members. Lonely Goatherds should remember that they are often out in the hills… all alone… with equally lonely goats… and keep themselves otherwise occupied. But do remember that registration is free, and fun!

The Prize:
The winner of this contest will win an item of their choice from the Goats store valued at $25 or less including shipping (with a little slack to cover international delivery if needed). No guarantees that the prize will ship in time to be received by Christmas.

The Deadline:
You must submit your entry by 12:00 am (Midnight) Friday December 17th, 2004.
All deadlines are Goats Standard Time.

The Judging:
GTyrrell has kindly agreed to co-judge this mess. He’ll decide which one he likes best, and then I’ll disagree. A fracas will ensue, and a decision will arise as if by magic from the dust. But there still is no spoon.

GTyrrell also was kind enough to take the photo in the first place. So we can see that he’s too kind. (Two kinds of what is open to debate. No, really. Look for it on TV next week. I think on CSPAN-12).

This basically means that the lighting and contrast in the photo are his fault, not mine.

Sure.

That will give GTyrrell and I more to argue about.

That's only because most people don't notice that I changed the problem in the first place. So that, while they thought they were arguing the first issue, and I was wrong, I was right because I was aruging the second issue... and I'm happy to agree that my point about the second issue is not correct in regards to the first issue... but that wasn't the point I was making in the first place. You see?

Or are you the party in the third part?

bah! that's just the photo that would have been taken one hour into the future.

That's not cool.

Oh unless you have a time machine camera that only takes pictures one hour into the future.

That would be cool.

Unless it was a camera from krull and you only saw one hour into the future when you were a cyclops and were going to die in that one hour.

Although being a cyclops would be cool.

Unless it was being one of those fireworks / fork related cyclops.

Although fireworks are cool.

There is no unless.

I think that "real" absinthe is still illegal in the U.S....

I know we talked about it maybe a year ago. But I don't care enough to do the work.

Besides which, I'm pretty sure the Pub doesn't serve Absinthe.

That's not cool.

Yes it is. He actually entered. That makes it cool in my book...

From that discussion, the "real" absinthe is illegal in the U.S. You can order some fake stuff from overseas though.

And I'm working on a few ideas...

I was unfortunately not present for my friends 15th b-day a few years back. A friend of hers got her drunk on Midori. The story stills go around at times; Vanessa walking around the house asking, "Where's my bottle, baby bottle." She also damn near attacked that friend of hers in a very sexual way and then launched luminous-green vomit all over her bedroom door. It was a definate "Wish you were here" moment.
