Contest: Mystery Word Comic Fun Time!
posted Monday, October 04, 2004 - 12:13 PM (#20659)
This is an even more unofficial contest, sponsored by me. Jon & Phillip will deny all involvement with it, and burn me at the stake at the next barbeque. (I'm tasty with chili and lime)

The Contest:
This is a fill-in-the-blank word-listing kind of game. It’s like that copyrighted game that I won’t mention by name, where one person has a book with some paragraphs in it, with missing words. The other person is told what type of words are missing, and supplies replacements. Then, the paragraph is revealed with the missing words, and oh! The good times do follow!

Except that instead of doing this with a paragraph, I’ve chosen a Goats comic mostly at random, and removed certain words.

To enter, please supply words to match the following “clues”:
  1. Quantity
  2. Plural noun
  3. Noun
  4. Plural noun
  5. Noun
  6. Pronoun
  7. Time period
  8. Pronoun
  9. Noun
  10. Verb phrase
  11. Noun phrase
  12. Noun
  13. Noun
  14. Noun
  15. Location
  16. Exclamation
Eligibility:
This contest is also only open to registered members. Es gibt kein Erarbeiten von Scheiße in dieser Küche. But do remember that registration is free, and fun!

The Prize:
The winner of this contest will win an item of their choice from the Goats store valued at $25 or less including shipping (with a little slack to cover international delivery if needed).

The Deadline:
You must submit your entry by 12:00 pm (Midnight) Monday October 11th, 2004.

The Judging:
Entries will be judged on how much they make me laugh when I look at the filled in comic.

I mean "a phrase that acts as a noun/verb". It may not be a grammatical construct at all.

So a verb phrase might be "stand around" or "go towards", and a noun phrase might be "cheap prosititute" or "first class jerk".

Every time someone mentions having a song stuck in their head around us, my wife turns to me and says "No, don't."

This is because she knows that my cure is worse than the disease...

Every time I get a song stuck in my head... I sing a bit of the Gilligan's Island theme song. It completely replaces the other tune - which isn't a good thing, necessarily.

I'm not gonna win; completely based on the fact that I don't think I've ever been good at these "fill in the blank" things. I always liked doing them but they always came out funny in a "well that doesn't make sense" kind of way. And when you're young you're always using words like poop, pee, and other assorted "dirty" words that make you laugh no matter what context they're in.

And my luck has never been that good.

WOW! I'm little Miss Optimism today aren't I?

You might hypothetically miss out on some movies because you thought you'd skip entertainment options with potentially explicit dildo content. I think we probably have different tastes when we're in the mood to watch videos. But whatever makes you happy, i'm happy for you; and i hope you'll be happy for me and my fanciful entertainment options.

I actually have a similar technique. But for me, the song is "Come Sail Away" by Styx. I can easily drive that song out of my head without singing any other song.

And, I don't have to sing it aloud. I just run it through my head until it replaces the offending tune. So, no one else has cause to suffer.
