RfV and politics
posted Wednesday, September 08, 2004 - 11:35 AM (#19907)
Just curious about this. My boyfriend is a republican and a Bush supporter, and didn't like the RfV shirts at first b/c he thought they were all about Bush being evil, which he's sick of people saying. I explained to him that they were originally about the CA election, and he then thought they were funny.

Now, I'm no Bush fan at all, but I don't think he's "evil." He's a guy who definitely sticks up for what he thinks is right, it just so happens that his idea of right and mine are polar opposites, so I don't want him leading my country. So I wouldn't want a shirt declaring him evil, because I think it's silly.

I honestly wouldn't care if it were RfV or DfV or GPfV or whatever, I just like the idea of Voldemort running for office, especially in the US. (Labour Party for Voldemort, anyone?) So I'm just wondering if most people buy it for the political message, or for the absurdity, or Harry Potter, or what. I wish the poll had more than five choices.

POLL: Why do you like the RfV shirts (if you like them)?

0% (0) Jon said to buy it, I do what Jon tells me to.

46% (14) Republicans are evil.

30% (9) Voldemort running for office amuses me.

3% (1) Goats and Harry Potter - two great obsessions that taste great together.

20% (6) Other (post about it below)

Other, because I'm conservative and I think irony should be a food group.

I responded that the idea of Voldemort running for office amuses me, but I also bought it because I am a Republican who does not want Bush in office.

I wonder if the Republican Party even realizes that McCain would have swept the elections?

It's all the fault of the "religious right".

No.

It's all the fault of the Republican Party - which is to say the fault of it's members - for standing idly by and allowing the party to be run the way it is.
