Original Strip Arrived
posted Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 12:52 PM (#19160)
I received my original strip [goats.com] Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to look at it and actually see how much work goes into drawing them.
Thank you Jon for your work.

And the package arrived flatter than Mary Kate's anorexic chest.

No, thank you for your help. Glad it arrived safe -- I figured those industrial-strength envelopes might do the trick.

I too [goats.com] have received my anticipated original strip artwork. Since I got a strip from 1998, mine actually has jon's actual hand-printed lettering included... no typewritten font on this one!

Glad I could help, jon.

Yup, mine arrived this morning too. Looks like all the post offices in the world have banded together to work efficiently, for once!

My strip [goats.com] has arrived as well! I'm going to have to run out and buy a nice matte and frame for it now...I do believe this has kicked off a new collection for me! It was in excellent condition, as well...I am very pleased, and very excited.

My one [goats.com] (apologies to non-preemies) arrived just one hour after I got home from a 3 plane, 4 search, 19 hour journey. I might even have passed it on the way!

"and Crisco" [goats.com] was my introduction to Goats-- i was instantly hooked. Soon thereafter, i found the notion of a Codpiece with RAM [goats.com] to be riotous. Then there was the universal Magic of Irony [goats.com]. Although the whole "Tangled Web" series was indeed delightful, Hot-Dog-On-A-Stick [goats.com] is a perfect example of a strip that can 'stand-alone' independently from its story-line. When i first saw Baked Lays [goats.com] (and i happened to be freshly-baked and -layed at that moment) i almost choked to death with laughter. Drugs work.

It will be a bit of a challenge to find space on the cluttered walls of our home, but i imagine a little redecorating could be enjoyable. Visitants have become extremely rare here, but in the future any will most certainly be exposed to the gospel of Goats.

Thank you, Jon, for all the humor, art, and wit you've bestowed. You've been the funniest influence on my life for nearly twenty months, and i only wish i'd found your website sooner.

No no no no no. That wasn't my point at all.... although it would be great if you did buy absurd quantities of t-shirts. Yes, i did receive five strips; but that wasn't what was important to me. They are old jokes, and are going to hang on the walls of my apartment, which means they'll probably never be seen by anybody except me, my roommate, and the rare unwitting victim; but what i really wanted was to see more new strips-- and i got my wish, as thrice-weekly has now become four-times-weekly. Everybody wins in this case; which is probably not something that can be said of most situations in which i'm a participant. I reject the existence of all those karma-gods, remember?

Bah. Why did I have to wait until now to clear all of my debts? :(

So, how much do I have to pay for original strip art in the new post-drive economy? So far the ones I covet most haven't been shown off... ;)

Well, I've finaly returned from my trip to the left coast, to find these [goats.com] pretty [goats.com] babies [goats.com] waiting for me. Well, actually I returned Monday, but this is the first day I've had web access for about 3 or 4 weeks.

So Jon, it looks like you've changed the way you draw the strips? The oliver strip has the blue pencil on it, while the older ones are just inked; or did you used to erase the construction lines?

Whoot! The strip [goats.com] which Jon (my husband and another distinct Jon-entity) picked out, has arrived.

Thank you Jon (not my husband this time) for such an apt drawing which sums up the motivations for alot of what happens around our flat :-)
