Yes.

That's where all the money we donate goes, to Jon's legal defense fund.

But Goulet is being grapsing. So chip in!

What interests me is what Jon will do for the other cut-out celebrity heads. Will he be able to find a color version of the Scott Baio head photo? I don't think it would be the same with a different head shot. Of course, he hasn't appeared in the comic for a long time, so maybe he just won't be back.

Anyway, I like the way he handled Reese. I knew exactly who she was in that first strip (Big 12:3) even though her name wasn't mentioned until the next strip. The artwork on her character is great.

I think the only other celebrities to appear (in Goats) in ink (instead of photograph) were John Travolta and Tom Cruise, and John was bound and gagged, so we didn't get to see much of him. I like that ridiculous celebs (like Baio, Shields, and Goulet) appear as photo heads, but I prefer the drawn versions of other celebs a lot more.

I liked that you referenced Goats like it was the bible. I also liked that Goats drew Reese's (I say Reese, like I know her) character, and not actually Reese (my close personal friend) because she seems pretty cool, no nanny and all. I think Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have hired a nanny before even getting pregnant. I think it would be great if the next poll asked people what celebrity they'd like to see in the strip. Jayson Williams? John Kerry? Prince? I think he's actually Prince again. Not sure, though. He's still insanely talented yet ambiguously creepy. Which way is that lycra-encased bulge going? Only Sheena knows.

There aren't any Goats drawing the strip, to my knowledge anyway. Jon might have an entire slave colony of goats drawing strips for him, but it's unlikely he'd be able to afford keeping them in NYC...

You say that almost as if it were a horribly bad thing. As though Christians were giant beasts with sharp teeth, seven eyes, and wings of blood red.

Though, I'd imagine if they were such a thing, it'd be pretty cool.

Well, personally, I've never met a real Christian.

Lots of people who claim to follow the "teachings" of some fictional carpenter/revolutionary/terrorist.

But even they never really seem to get it right.

It seems to be something fundamental that believing you'll "get into Heaven" means that you're better than other people - which is always the first thing they get wrong about the "teachings" they are supposed to follow.

PS: Who is Bobby Goulet?

Aww, c'mon. AT LEAST Ask Dr. Internet [google.com].

The problem I find with people using the "better than others" argument relating to Christians is that such a trait is so vastly common in anybody. It really makes not enough sense to me to apply it in a fashion that appears to be concentrating it in one group.

Granted, I've yet to meet a Christian that's anywhere near as bad as some people claim all Christians are. In fact, I've met some good Christians, some bad Christians, some oddball Christians, and some perfectly normal Christians. I've also seen some of the same types in non-Christians. Which leads me to believe that people are generally sharing all the people-like traits.

And when I say Christians, I mean people who say they are Christian and/or people who believe they are Christian.

My point is not that people think they are better than other people, or that some set of people think they are better than other people more often than another set of people.

My point is that the "teachings" of Christianity basically say that "everyone is equal", or at least "everyone has the same chances as everyone else". So believing that because you are going to heaven then it means you are better than other people is to NOT be a Christian.

But you're right. It's an oversimplification.

I'm focusing in on this point, since I agree with the others at the moment. Just because someone fails at some tenet of Christian teaching doesn't make that person not a Christian. I do believe one is also supposed to be striving towards reaching the ideals, but accepting of personal sin so long as one works to overcome it when it is recognised in oneself; a Christian would be accepting of flaws in another and himself or herself should that person's course be towards helping others and helping himelf or herself.

Realising that what I just said partly supports your statement, let me also say that one should not feel superior to another just because someone fails to work towards these things. Seriously, being Christian is pretty tough, I guess. Too mayn balances required.

Sorry for the thread derailing here. I probably should have started a new thread with all this.

Meh. There's a reason I'm going Jewish. I mean, when God says "Hey, you people there... you are my chosen people," you don't argue. You do get arrogant, but I think that's a legitimate thing to be doing in the circumstances.

C'mon, chant it with me: Chosen People! Chosen People!
