And Family Guy is a ripoff of the Simpsons, which is a ripoff of the Flintstones, which is a ripoff of the Honeymooners. It's a grand cycle.

I'm surprised you latched on to this one obvious influence while ignoring the nods to Alien Resurrection, HP Lovecraft, any of a dozen prison break movies, etc, etc...

well, that is the one that stuck out in my mind, I can't remember the last prison break film I saw where they used a clone. I noticed the HP Lovecraft and Resurrection though. I didn't know if the octo-hitler was on purpose or not.

Personally, I think it's a matter of unique combinations of a few basic ingredients. Painters are limited to the visible spectrum, but that doesn't seem to hamper them too much.
