Kittens = Pop Tarts Original Art Auction

Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 11:08 AM

I've never sold any of my original comic strip art before. I've sold illustrations and related stuff, but never one of the strips themselves. But I think I'm ready to part with one or two of them. As you may know, we're releasing the next Goats book for Christmas, so we're going to auction off one of the strips from the upcoming volume to help pay for printing costs.

Which strip, you may ask? None other than the very first strip of the Kittens = Pop Tarts series from March 1, 1998. It can be yours.

Bidding ends at noon EST (9:00am PST) on Tuesday, Ocotber 28th.

So the next book is Goats Vol. 2? I'd assume so, judging by the age of the strip.

Whatever it is, I'll definitely be buying it.

Wish I had the cash to bid on this strip, but I am sadly unemployed and broke and a college student.

Are you including a certificate of authenticity with this piece of artwork, like you did the others you sold?

Or has your supply of hobos run low?

I can include a certificate if the auction winner so requests.

It's a combination of Vols. 1 and 2. I'm laying it out this week.

I really wish I had a couple hundred to blow, as that is probably my favorite strip ever. In any comic. Even beating out the JPBC strip.

How much do slpeens sell for on the black market?

When are you going to sell "a goats editorial"
http://www.goats.com/archive/980414.html

This is by far my favorite strip and I would be willing to go into minor credit card debt to get it.

So, no separate Vol. 1 and 2? Ever?

I'm not complaining. I'll still buy the book no matter what it is. I think I stated that already in this thread.

I suppose you have enough material for a Vol. 5 now, if not also a Vol. 6. Just speculation.

Better watch out before the Pop Tarts people decide to sue.

I have put the original artwork on my baby registry.

Also, will you be putting out a limited edition hardcover of this one as well?

Printing costs are not too bad, considering that it's twice as big -- we're going with a new printer this time.

You'll have to buy a few more originals, I think.

And yes, there will be a hardcover, fates willing.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
