Goats Invades Comic Book Shops Near You

Sunday, August 24, 2003 - 01:52 PM

Goats Books have been slowly creeping their way into brick-and-mortar comic book shops over the last few months. For those of you in the New York City area, head down to Midtown Comics in Times Square to get your Goats fix. They're currently stocking both our titles on their store shelves, and you can also order 'em from their website as well.

Goats books are now also being carried by Comic Relief in Berkeley, California, coinciding eerily with the gubernatorial recall. So if you're a resident, go check out the Bay Area's best comic book store and pick up a Goats book while you're there.

If you want your local comic book shop to carry Goats books, ask them to order through the Cold Cut Distribution catalog, or have 'em drop us a line if they have any questions.

I work in Times Square, and pass Midtown Comics on my way to and from work. Though you probably get less money per sale, I imagine that buying from Midtown vs. direct from you would mean the Midtown people will be more likely to buy your stuff in the future, and that is good, yes?

Does this mean that there's a greater likelyhood of there being new Goats books in the near future? These two I already have crave more friends.

Don't take this as an official announcement, but there's a good chance of there being a new book by year's end.

That is, assuming I manage to find the time to scan all the strips. I never thought there'd be a need for hi-resolution versions of the strip when we started, and now I'm paying the price.

Ahh, but once you're done....

It is we that shall be paying the price.

Mostly; there are a handful which have been lost to the ravages of time. I'll probably use the low-resolution GIFs for those, but hopefully it'll be kept to a minimum.

You could always apply that hip revisionist history that's all the rage and make 'special editions' of those strips...

Adobe has (or had) a program that would make a vector graphic out of a raster graphic fairly easily. Of course, it wasn't perfect, and those low-res GIFs probably aren't the best source, but maybe it's worth checking out.

Of course, without a program name, this idea is kinda useless.

I dont usually buy comics. I stopped in one the other day just to browse. I asked the comic book geek that owns the store if he had any Goats books. He looked at me with confusion in his eyes. I felt proud...and then sad that I couldn't get a Goats book. Stupid comic book store.
