Howdy, Snarky Neighbors

Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 07:54 AM

Long-time Goats reader luvrhino recently convinced us to take out an ad on the Television Without Pity forums for the day. TWoP is a place where hypercritical folks gather to lambast the creators of various kinds of media, so naturally, we knew this was the sort of demographic we wanted, being masochists and all. So, for those 3 or 4 TWoP readers who still click on banner ads and have made it to our fair site, welcome. Luvrhino has prepared some introductory words to help get you started. Read on and let the wisdom soak in.

Hello, fellow Television Without Pity readers. Hopefully, there's a goodly number of you that were sufficiently intrigued by the pretty ad or somehow came here in a frenzy of clicking all the pretty pictures at random. No matter, we at Goats welcome your eyeballs and hope to satisfy them in ways they've never been satisfied before.

For the last 5 1/2 years, Goats: The Comic Strip has provided an erudite, multifaceted treatise upon the indominability of the human condition. We recognize that stepping into the midst of such a stream of profundity, one easily might be carried away and drowned.

Thus, it's best that you start at the inception of the strip and read from there. Sadly, the nascent genius of these initial strips is lost on many readers. If you find yourself in this position, we suggest that you try these series of strips whose brilliance can't be denied by even the snarkiest among you:

We thank you for your support.

I did it! Last night I saw the ad on TWoP and said, "That's something I should spend all night and tomorrow reading, so that I'll be able to fit in. And because I'm board. Do I talk to myself too much?" "No. You're fine."

Anyway, that's what I did. In 24 hours I caught up to 5 1/2 years of strips. All of it.

Now I need another 5 1/2 years. I've got tomorrow off too.

The funny thing about spell checkers is that, if it's spelt right, it doesn't get flagged.

Of course, the real reason is that after 24 hours, you don’t notice flags, or friends, or sunlight…

Welcome to our little corner of debauchery and dementia, emerae. Come on in, relax, take a load off, and get rid of all that heavy, heavy money in the store.

No, seriously.

Thanks. This money is getting heavy. It was so much lighter then they were all bills, but now that they're coins, I can barely lift them.

Feed them all to the dog, and just take it for a walk whenever you need to go buy groceries.

I would, but I don't think I could handle the crappy withdrawal restrictions.

Not that they’re much better with my bank…
