POLL: POLL: Born Tu Vok T-Shirt That You Must Own

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - 05:22 PM

Who's the black Vulcan dick
That's a pon-farr machine to all the chicks?

When I'm drawing a comic strip, I have to distract the bits of my brain that aren't involved in drawing-related activities, otherwise they get bored and wander off in search of twizzlers. But the distraction needs to be inherently uninteresting, otherwise the drawing-bits get distracted as well. Star Trek: Voyager reruns are perfectly mediocre distractions, barely watchable and sometimes cringe-inducing but always enough to keep me in my seat.

If that show had anything going for it, it was steely-eared Tuvok, who silently suffered all the ridiculous fools populating the Voyager. One of these days I fully expect him to pistol-whip Neelix.

Anyhoo, the BORN TU VOK t-shirts are now available for pre-order, be a dear and let me know if you want one by Wednesday, June 6.

UPDATE:

Due to intense disinterest, I'm pulling this design. It will no longer be available in our store. Sorry!

Ummmmmmmmm, helloooo? You forgot Tom Paris.

He is a total dick. I hope he gets clusterfucked by Kazons.

Oh, and don't you have a diaper to change or something?

Incidentally, it really is to bad that you're Jon and not Stan, because then you could make a rockin' t-shirt with a picture of your kid on it and the headline "CHILD OF STAN" which would be cool.

Tuvok was truly about the only cool thing about that series (although as you say, perfectly acceptable as mediocre background entertainment) - the only Vulcan character who actually really acts like a Vulcan ought to.

For extra nerdy goodness, I thought that one of the nice points about the Voyager: Elite Force game is that Tuvok is your boss and you go on missions with him.

Though, it would've been a near thing with Kes, if she hadn't had the decency to leave the show fairly early...

Why isn't the doctor in the poll? I'm sure he would have won by at least 349%

Well hell, guess I have to throw my $.02 in and pipe up for Torres - A festering ball of 'I'm angry, I'm conflicted, I'm threatened by a woman in a catsuit'. Plus, she was always figuring out how to save the ship in the nick of time, and not once do I remember her reversing the polarity to the main deflector...

Awww- Tom and Harry made such a cute gay couple. Same with Janeway and 7 of 9, in a dom/sub kind of way. Neelix and Kes were truly execrable. I did find the whole Tom/B'elanna storyline to be this lame smokescreen to try and maintain a facade of heterosexuality on the show. That was the best thing about Voyager- it was the most "gay"/alternative of all the Star Trek series.

I'm surprised Janeway didn't get more votes. I couldn't stand her, but maybe that's because when I first heard there was going to be a female captain, I got the idea in my head that they might get Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) to play the part, looking all tough n' buff à la Terminator 2. Kate Mulgrew was a pretty big disappointment after that.

Voyager was my favorite of all the Star Trek series. I really enjoyed Deep Space 9 and the Next Generation, but i saw them all out of order in syndicated reruns. I had the pleasure of seeing nearly every episode of Voyager in order when they were new. Maybe that contributed to some of the satisfaction, as the continuity was strong. And Tuvok was certainly one the show's greatest features.

Too bad the t-shirts weren't really profitable. I thought a sci-fi nerd-related design would be quite popular with much of your audience. But apparently i am utterly incapable of making such predictions accurately, as evidenced by my taste in Star Trek programs.

Sorry, you would be the only one buying one evidently, and I am sure you are a nice person but my printer requires more than a single shirt per print run.
