Comic-Con: Rapidly Approaching

Friday, July 26, 2002 - 11:16 AM

It's just around the freaking corner, and I'm getting very excited. I'm scrambling to get everything done in time for our departure (I have a couple more Goats strips to polish off before we leave, as well as one Patent Pending strip, each of which takes approximately 30 years to complete), and when I'm not scrambling, I'm excitedly jumping up and down. It's fun. You should try it.

If you're coming to Comic-Con, please come stop by our little table (that's Table #V-14 over in the Small Press area, listed in the book under Goats, I believe). From the look of the floor plan, we're likely furthest from the stuff most people are there to see, so our table will be a cool oasis for your fevered brow.

We're going to have the new book for you to purchase, the stickers, tattoos (which will be free if you put them on right away!) and buttons we promised, and our friends over at CafePress have hinted that they may be bringing us a few printed goodies to make available as well.

If you're going to show up, post to the forums using the link below and let us know!

I'll be going. OH YES, I WILL be going!

All of my favorite online comics people are going this time! not like last year, when it was just McCloud and the Keen Patrol. Hooray!

(note: not that I have anything against McCloud. Scott is a brilliant man in his own right, and I have a great deal of respect.)

(Keenspot can pretty much bite me though.)

Sweet! I'll stop by the booth, and bring some condiments.

Personal taste aside, I hope the population that hovers around the Keen booth this weekend is even bigger than last year. I wish all online comics endeavors success (pretty much), I've just had one too many bad experiences with Keenspot to not have left a bad taste in my mouth.

Heh. You're the one that's supposed to bite me, but I'm the one with a bad taste in my mouth? Go fig.

You might say that Mr. Hamp has put a HAMPER on my good feelings toward mankind! HAHAHAHA!

No, I love Mr. Hamp. Like I love all mankind.

Many before you have tried to suck humor out of my last name with "hamper" jokes (though more frequently with "hampster" jokes), but it just usually doesn't turn out to be that funny in the end. Much like most of what I write. And it isn't because of lack of effort or wit on this lonely goatherder's part, trust me, I've tried to find some funny way to use the "hamper" thing. It just doesn't work out.

Now, transform it into "hemp" and you have a virtual cornucopia of laugh riots at disposal. Eh, if yer into that sorta thing.

*shrug*

What did I do to put a hamper on your feelings towards mankind one way or another anyway? I really don't mean to offend, but I do tend to mouth off about businesses I've had poor experiences with. It's the customer in me talking though, and does not reflect what an overall swell guy I am. Or how I smell for that matter.

I was performing a biting parody of the many people you have met in your life. You know, like the NAKED GUN movies makes fun of things that are real.

Now do the same to me! HINT: Pudding pops are usually involved for some reason.

With the tattoos and the free for the "on, now!" activity and the people with the "no no no too far" antipodean attitude will there be glossy images of the creative funsters joining in?

I think Amy is bringing her digital camera; that said, it takes a lot of effort for me to actually get around to posting images. I am so, so lazy.

I'm hoping that we'll have some form of internet access so I can keep you guys up-to-date on the happenings and goings-on (although it seems unlikely that we will). God forbid that you should have to wait even a day to find out how drunk I got with some maniacal webcartoonists.

Don't badmouth laziness!

It's what 'efficiency' used to be called until the spindoctors got their grubby paws on it.

After all, trying to do as little as possible to get something done isn't a bad thing. I must be one of the most efficient people lolling about on this planet...

Right, the difference between "efficiency" and "laziness" is that, with "efficiency" the something in question actually ends up getting done.

Which is not to say that I have anything against laziness. I've considered building a cult around laziness. I even have a Universal Justification of Laziness prepared as the central idea to draw in members. (You've probably heard it before; it's a fairly straight-forward thermodynamic argument.) But putting up the web site would be too much work.

speaking of lazy, i haven't checked any other posts to see if you've brought up the idea of taking pictures of the happenings at your table. i'd just take pictures of you guys myself and be like "aww dude i totally saw those guys from the inter-web" but i live a whole shitload of miles from san diego and my available dollars are unable to solve that problem, presently.
