Creative Forum Uses

Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 11:09 PM

Those of you who have taken a spin through our new forums may have stumbled upon a discussion in the Ring of Fire forum entitled Communal Storytime. The idea, essentially, is that each person can add on another sentence or two to the end of the story. I think storytelling like this is particularly interesting, not only for the community effort involved, but for the potential splitting of threads -- one thread could follow the adventures of a secondary character, forming an entirely separate but entwined story. It's very cool and a lot of fun.

What other creative, unusual uses do you know of for forums like ours? Tell us about your ideas and experiences, or, better yet, start your own thread and show us.

I find that forums are especially useful in spreading subversive and chaos-inducing memes via haiku:

law and faith corrupt
who can you trust these days, then?
satan buys you beer

Ah Phillip, you glorious sack of carbon. You managed to fix the bug where some users (or maybe just me) couldn't reply to a post. No longer am I doomed to float obscured behind other people's replies. Now is the time for my day in the sun.

Now I can properly let the world know of my Creative Forum Uses. um... er, how about using the forum for extraneous use of words like... extraneous!

On second thought, maybe you should have left it the way it was. Some users (or maybe just me) shouldn't have their day in the sun. Oh well, such is life.

Wait, wait! Albinos should probably stay out of the sun too.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
