POLL: Open Mic Contest Still Open

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - 03:40 PM

Just a reminder that you have until Saturday to submit your entries for the Ope Mic Week. I am sure you are diligently working on your entries right up until the last minute, but as it stands, you have an excellent shot of winning if you enter.

UPDATE: Wow! We received a lot of great entries, they will all be available for your perusal in a few weeks. In the meantime, I've selected the five strips that I liked the most and they'll be running all next week, from July 24-28. AT the end of the week, you'll be able to vote for the winner! STAY TUNED.

POLL: What the hell?

9% (142) Margaret Cho keeps bothering me

39% (567) The laws of time and space refuse to bend to my will

15% (220) Pigs keep trying to inseminate my watermelon

24% (355) I can't come up with an idea that doesn't involve horse rape

11% (163) My pen got lost
1447 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

The reason I haven't submitted is the same as one of the big reasons why I read this comic (or submit to any public medias): because you can do it better than I can, so I leave it up to you.

The laws of time and space really have been thwarting me.

I have a comic drawn, the kind of comic one might draw after being figuratively assraped day after day by a soulless aluminum plant, but time barely let me do that. I finally bent time over my knee yesterday.

I'm still stuck in West virginia on a long, draining business trip. Unfortunately I left my scanner at home, so space is still in my way as I have to return home before digitizing these marks on this paper thing. I hope to conquer that Friday, sometime after lunch.

Expect +1 entry late friday or early saturday.

I'm working, I'm working! You gave us only a week, and I have a comic of my own to update also. :)

(No, you've never heard of me. But I'll have a submission for you on time.)

I am beating my head desperately against things in my house, trying to get an idea.

And now you tell me horse rape isn't okay, so there goes that one.

Bah. I've actually gotten decent with Blender [blender.org] (decent enough to render a dialog between, say, Fish and Idi Amin, anyway), but I got bupkis for ideas. Nah, that's not the whole story. My bupkis has bupkis for ideas. And I don't have enough time. And that FUCKING pig won't leave my poor little melon alone. Bah!

But I do have something. My partner in crime just has to get home from work to ink it.

Gaah, I suck. I had a week and a half off work and didn't draw a damn line. I do have a strip plotted, though, so I may just come back here and post it in script form. Gotta check the books and remind myself of the names of the girls we haven't seen in the strip in two years, though...I thought a nice "Meanwhile, back in our home reality..." strip with a self-indulgent use of a couple of my own characters would be fun. Potential infidelity and teleportation are involved...

Why check the books? You can find many of them here [goats.com]. And then, of course, there's Lori [goats.com] and Lauren [goats.com]. And Lynda [goats.com].

Wow, have we really not seen Lauren and Lori since '03 and Lynda since '01? What've you got against women whose names begin with L, Jon?

It would have taken me way too long to draw anything I wouldn't be embarassed to submit. That's one of the reasons I gave up drawing comics a while ago.

as you saw in my video game project, my drawing skills would be indistinguishable from a 3 year olds. but there's a point when you realize that you'll probably never see most of the people on here and if they really want to mock your drawing skills, then you just say "Screw you, Deerboy."
