Happy Three-Day Weekend

Thursday, May 26, 2005 - 08:08 AM

I hope everyone's enjoying today's double-sized comic; it is meant to pacify you into a state of agreeability so that when I tell you that there will be no comic on Monday (due to the Memorial Day holiday we hold so dear here in the U.S. of A), you will not raise pitchforks and torches and storm the Goats compound.

I will try and have some sort of filler up for you so that if you do accidentally visit the site there will be something enjoyable for you to see. But it is vitally important for matters of national security that I attend several barbecues this weekend, and there will simply be no time for comicking. I'm sure you understand.

What are you folks doing this weekend?

Ypu're barbecuing this weekend? Hope it's not in NYC, the weather is atrocious. Me, I'm heading for beautiful Canadia, where the something is something and the something else is something else.

Whee! Double-size!

...

Wait, weren't there supposed to be twelve demon lords...?

Oh well! I guess we'll find out on Tuesday--or not. I can't say I'd be surprised if we didn't.

I am going to be in New Jersey, a few exits past Xibalba on the turnpike. I do not anticipate a river of scorpions; the torments of southern New Jersey refrain from such clumsy methods, preferring instead to confuse drivers with a lack of clearly-marked signs (except, naturally, when one has already made a wrong turn, at which point after you turn around to correct yourself several signs will considerately point out your mistake in as gloating a fashion as possible).

I hate that state with the intensely burning passion of a million fiery suns. Maybe it shows.

Don't forget the fact that New Jersey is pathologically against left turns. You have to go past your turn, and then go 270 degrees to the right.

My girlfriend has the weekend off from shooting unimaginably small particles at almost-but-not-quite-imaginably small other particles, so I'll likely be spending lots of time with her. I haven't been invited to any barbecues; unlike Jon, I'm afraid I haven't made Homeland Security's Compulsory Barbecue Attendance list. I'll make sure to burn something large anyway in honor of the holiday.

I will be spending a gleefully geeky weekend painting Warhammer 40K figures and playing roleplaying games.

This is closing weekend for a community theatre production of A Chorus Line for which I am both Stage Managing and playing a bizarre combination of both Tricia & Vicki (two of the girls who don't make the line). (Tricky.) (Vicia.) Whatever. I've got a solo.

I've got 8's tonight & tomorrow night and a 6 on Sunday.

Thank goodness I'm off on Monday. I'll be exhausted. I'm already exhausted.

I'm struggling to make it through the next few hours of work so I can enjoy happy hour. Then Saturday will be filled with much relaxation and possibly some Q.

Sunday will probably be racing my car; and therefore Monday will be spent fixing whatever I break the day before.

Well, I've been working 6 days a week for almost this whole year, so it's an ironic good thing since I got saturday and sunday off.

Although this is my last week working for this company. So who knows if I will regain my weekends or not.
