Jennings Loves Goats

To add back a little of that troublesome context... He was discussing blogs in general, and made a remark about reading a blog by a goat. When I heard it, it did occur to me that he might referring to goats.com -- even with the larger context, it really does sound like he might be talking about Jon's news posts -- but I think it's more likely he was riffing on the joke about how, "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog," which started out as a reference to internet flirting (ugly people can get people interested through wit and conversation), but morphed (in a New Yorker cartoon [unc.edu]) into the notion of an actual dog being on the internet. Possibly he just picked a different animal.

i proclaim the little hand symbol jennings makes there as the international symbol for goats.com.

anybody know what song that was at the end of the video?

that was great how the host of the show (in the clip, at least...) did this whole, "I have no clue what in all hells your talking about, so I'll just laugh and hope no one will notice" thing after he said "Goats!"

I saw that too... though I thought he'd said "goatse" which I thought was both highly inappropriate... and incredible hilarious.

I'm hoping I was wrong and was plugging goats.com instead.

Peter Jennings was most certainly referring to Goatse.cx. I here he has it set to his Counter-Strike spray as well.

To make it all-encompassing, I would call it "Word Choice (-1)," just because it'd bring back the horrors of English class, wherein teachers used to mark such a thing on papers of the lesser students. Although they didn't use the parentheses while doing so.

I totally heard Jennings say Goats! Other members of my household agreed, but claimed that it harkened back to a comment made earlier in the interview that I had "missed". Glad to see you guys caught it too.

I was sad when Stewart's reaction made it sort of obvious that he had no idea what Jennings was talking about.

Just watched the clip, and it really sounded like "Goats, Goats" to me.

Perhaps now the question is whether there's any way to send Jennings subtle messages through the strip...
