Stuff Is Awesome + Contest Contest

Thursday, January 20, 2005 - 10:09 AM

Stuff Is Awesome T-Shirt Stuff is awesome once again with our brand-new (yet mysteriously weathered-looking) Stuff is Awesome t-shirts and babydoll tees. For a limited time you can also get it for a discount along with our Surly tee as part of our Bipolar Pack. Pre-order yours today.

To celebrate the release of our newest shirt (and because I have a spare copy of Half-Life 2 sitting around), we're running a Contest Contest. Too often contests are way too difficult, what with all the entering and such you need to do. That's why we're going to let you come up with your own contest for maximum personal enjoyment.

Post your entries below; each entry should consist of a description of your own contest and your entry in that contest. Anything you want goes; the contest and entry pair that I like the most will win the grand prize: a copy of Half-Life 2 and one Stuff is Awesome t-shirt. The runners up (Best Contest and Best Entry) will each receive a Stuff is Awesome t-shirt. I'll announce the winners on Friday, Feb. 4.

Okay, my contest is called "Buy A Beer For Somebody Who Deserves It".

My entry will consist of me buying Jon a beer tonight.

My contest idea for the contest of creating a contest would be a contest involving people creating a contest. It would also involve beer.

I will create a contest in which to win you must write the book and lyrics for a musical that is worse than Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats".

My entry: I'm thinking along the lines of a rock-opera about a the ancient war between the emo kids and the goth kids. While the emo kids create force fields with their ipods, and their messanger bags make great bludeoning items, and the goths kids (with an unnatural love for hanson's song "mmbop" and capri sun juice drinks) are vampires, the epic climax will still preach messages of love and waffles in an unholy chorus of "the Circle of Life". Expect blatant cameos by the Predator, Elton John, and Oprah. And for the leader of the goths, two words; Keanus Reeves. Beat that, Webber....

My entry is, well, me. Use search, find me, find insults and drunken obnoxiousness. Oh and for bonus points I mention that Rickards Red appears to be another fairly boring (without being insulting or offensive) beer [ratebeer.com]

This may be the first competition I could stand a chance at winning.

My contest is the Arrogant Presumption Contest. Of course, I'll win it, because I'm naturally more talented at winning contests than any of you. I also smell nicer, think faster, jump higher, and whiten teeth automatically. Rocks and trees spontaneously develop speech merely to praise my name. President Bush shines my shoes, and the Pope himself delivers a newspaper to my front door every day just to be in my radiant presence. Also, I can bake cookies using my powers of telepathy. So for a guy like me (and by "a guy like me," I mean "inventor of Cold Fusion and seven-time AL batting champion"), this contest is a piece of cake.

So you can just send your congratulatory e-mails to . Nothing more to see here, folks - this contest is already wrapped up. Finito.

also by registering you wouldn't have had to post your email address as it'd be part of your profile.

So not only are you a tool but you neatly avoided the simple step that _may_ have concealed it, well temporarily at least.

No prizes for knobs around here sorry.

I like Goats. All the same, here's my idea for a contest: come up with the best new Goast storyline.

My entry: Upon entering the door of the ol' pub, John and Phillip find themselves transported to another dimension. It is exactly like theirs, except ruled by zombies - in this dimension, humans take the place of the undead as the victims of oppression and brutal slayings. After encountering the leader of the zombies, who are actually zombified versions of themselves, Jon and Phillip return to their own dimension with a renewed respect for all things that are feared because they are not understood.

Then a zombie comes at Phillip and he blows it away with a shotgun as Jon realizes his friend clearly wasn't paying any attention to the story.

My Contest Idea is the Not-Contest Contest. The Rules of the Not-Contest are as such.

NOT-1. The Not-Contest requires that there are no rules that require anybody to do anything, and as such these rules must be established as not-rules, which must not be followed at any time.

NOT-2.The Not-Contest must be agreed upon by all parties to not be an actual contest.

NOT-3. Any party/parties entering the Not-Contest will be disqualified, as entering the Not-Contest violates the spirit of Non-Competition

NOT-4. Entry into the Not-Contest is not permitted. Only Those who acknowledge the rules of the Not-Contest, and accept that they will not do anything about them

NOT-5.The party/parties responsible for giving the prizes for the winner of the Contest Contest, will acknowledge that the Not-Contest requires non-entry in order to win, as is the spirit of non-competition.

I hereby do not enter the Not-Contest.
