Yes, I Know This Is Childish.

Friday, November 05, 2004 - 10:24 AM

Apologies in advance. I found this image on the NY Times website and it seemed like it just needed a little extra... something. I know this isn't contributing to the efforts to bring the country together under the banner of bipartisanship and rational discourse, but it sure does feel good.

I love it.

Oh how I loathe that man.

I just wish my vote would have mattered. :(

I've mentioned before that I work in an office of Bush supporters, and when asked why I don't like Bush I reply, "Because I think he's an idiot." They then proceed to tell me that I have no factual evidence that this is true and that my opinion is wrong.

Something about him "running" a Fortune 500 company and having attended Yale.

Oooh, close, but you had a typo. It should have been "ruining" the Fortune 500 company. And they're being modest about Dubya's achievements. He ran at least three companies into the ground before he got into politics.

He did attend Yale. But so what? With the exception of their divinity school, I'm not aware of any Yale programs that are considered rigorous or "best of" in the way that, say, the economics program at the University of Chicago, or the high-energy physics program at Princeton are. Of the Ivy League schools, Yale is definitely the weakest academically.

Maybe Cornell.

Whether the school is weak or not, it's not like he got in based on his own merits as a student. All the "King's" horses and all the "King's" men, sure hooked Dubya up like a cheap prostitute in a penthouse suite.

I love the image. Simple, but powerful.

As for being nonpartisan: I'll start as soon as Bush does the same. I'll get behind him as soon as he stops exluding half of the country in his policies.

You know, I find myself caring less and less.

I loathe to think that I might actually be growing up, and at such a young age, but I just feel defeated in the realm of politics. I mean, on Tuesday, Americans went out and voted, by a majority, AGAINST their best interests. You can't make them wnat what's best for them, they just don't want queermos getting hitched, or ladies killing babies who are not babies yet.

Middle America is going to get what they deserve. Me, I'll hide out for four years, and hope for some one better next time.

But, for the record, Clark would have won.

The Pretzel initiative
I am starting a drive to get as many people as possible to mail 1 bag of pretzels to the white house. Every letter is counted as 100000 people when it goes to the white house... let's show him how many people want him to choke.
Pass and repost this... I want the ADMINISTRATION TO GET THE MESSAGE THAT WE WONT BEND OVER FOR THIS TYRANT LIKE LAST TIME

go to www.whitehouse.gov for the address and zipcode... address it C/O President George W Bush... the letter should read something like...

Dear sir,

I was a supporter of your opponent in this past election. I supported him because (A, B, C... whatever issues you disagree with Bush on). I believe that your agenda is detrimental to American society. We the people of the Pretzel initiative have come together to send these bags of pretzels as a non-violent gesture of protest towards your policies. Their purpose is to illustrate our unhappiness with the current situation, at home and abroad, with something that you can see, handle, and count with your own eyes.

(add in your own personal message)

We will not be ignored...

Sincerely,

(your name)

I think the interesting thing about the election is that even in the major Republican states, most large population centers voted Democratic, as did cities with colleges. Which is scary, because it means the intellectual majority is politically dominated by a bunch of provincials.
::sigh::
And people wonder why this system scares me.

Even more ironically, the electoral college system was actually set up to ensure that uneducated provincials didn't skew the numbers too bady.

Funny how things change.

I had noticed the same trend, and it is rather disturbing. On that note, I'll come out and say what a ton of people are thinking: country folk are imbeciles. In the immortal words of Bill Hicks: "It's a judgement call, and I'm makin' it." But seriously, "provincials" seem to be too easily dominated by the right due to their devotion to god, guns, and bigotry. I know this all too well; I live in Maine.

Oh, and a comment on an earlier post: yes, Clark would have won. I still have my pin. I cling to it when I cry myself to sleep.

Smell hoax on that one. Same with the previous election (which had the same kind of data for gore/bush). See, the problem stems from the fact that you have an insanely huge spread of IQs. It's more of a 98-103 IQ range in most other means of determining "IQ." And I believe the data is much less skewed.

It also depends highly on what you use to determine IQ. Some use SAT/ACT scores of a states students (which really only shows how well the state can educate teenagers and children), and some use some magical other means.

And regardless, I've met some pretty stupid people who have high IQs. :)
