Donations Update: Almost There

Tuesday, July 06, 2004 - 04:33 PM

It looks like we're mere days away from meeting our first fundraising goal of $10,000 -- as of this post we need less than $1200 more, which frankly is better than I ever expected us to do. Not to sound like a broken record, but this is a pretty amazing thing you folks have done and I love each and every one of you in a scary stalker-like way.

Over 250 people have given so far. More than 100,000 of you are regular readers. If the rest of you would help us out with five or ten bucks, I promise I'll stop bugging you for cash for at least a few weeks. Oh, and we'll post more comic strips. But you knew that.

Thanks!

More than 100,000 of you are regular readers.

But they're not apparently even irregular t-shirt buyers or Premium or SuperPremium members.

Look, to all you lurkers out there, if Jon has made you laugh even once this entire year, it's worth $5 of your sweaty, hard-earned, hard-grasped cash.

So do long-time readers who finally unclenched their grubby, tightwad hands and subscribed count? I sent you money! Love me!

I'll donate after comic-con. Can you wait 2 1/2 weeks?
Would you maybe just want me to get you a beer of your choice or something? That would be like the same price.. Oh wait, but you had Phillip would have to split it.. so.. Hmm..

This is quite a dilemma.

I've spent way more than :10bux: on other websites, I'm happy to send some along.

Keep up the good work.

Paypal has informed me that I've renewed my premium membership. So it looks like you got some money out of me anyway. Wifey isn't letting me donate at this time. Says we need money to live and stuff. Poo.

Since sakaruth answered truthfully below, I'll now give you the completely false answer.

Space aliens invaded my house and forced me to donate my wife to goats. Only, they cloned her first so that I could be trapped here with a shell mimicking my wife! I'm so very alone. *sniff*

Well down here we call them brockford wives, after Mr. Brock, who invented them back in the ripe ol' year of 1924, next to the first Ford dealership in the state. He was just tinkering away with dipolar tube guns and flux nanoreceptors and boom. There his wife was. Only she was not really his wife. Or was she?

Well, I will forego my morning coffee for a few days so I can donate a few bucks. Hopefully I won't fall asleep.
