Worlds of Peril: Eighth Hour

Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 06:00 PM

30 june 2004 Technically this month's sunday strip isn't late. It's certainly not early, but I think I'm in under the wire. This month (or the hours left of it, anyway), we find our fab four facing Firewall's fearsome riddles (dammit, why can't riddle start with an 'f'?). Get 'em right, and they have passage to safety. Get 'em wrong, and it's /dev/null for our heroes. Which will it be?

If you're not a premium member, you've missed out on the first third of our two-year parallel worlds story arc, Worlds of Peril. But it's not too late to catch the rest. Sign up today!

Wow! I just sent Fish a reminder that you hadn't posted this months Sunday comic a mere 5 hours ago and already you deliver!

What evil mind powers does Fish posses to compel you to bend to his whim so easily?

Argh!

I can't decide if six units is due to the "not our dimension" nature of them being, um, in between dimensions...

Or if it's because he's bad at math! How can you have six units of anything?

In Response to zamphir (#18121):

I'm going to make an educated guess that 1 unit, in this case, is equal to 1 sixth of the accurateness of the actual answer. For example, if somebody answered 28 to the first 'riddle' then they would have been accurate to 4 units.

This is based on what I already know about the use of 'units' [goats.com]in goats.

I'm probably totally wrong, so I eagerly await my correction.

I'm not sure I should read too much into the units thing.

THAT is exactly the problem.

One sixth, indeed!

Actually, I'd be more inclined to say that 1 unit represents 1/xth of totally accurate. If 1 unit of accuracy was 1/6th of total accuracy, then 6 units means 100% accurate.

It all comes down to "How accurate is 1 unit of accuracy?".
