POLL: MoCCA 2004!

Monday, June 14, 2004 - 05:21 PM

Phillip and I, along with the other Dumbrella kids, are going to be at the MoCCA Art Fest 2004 on Saturday, June 26th and Sunday, June 27th from 10:00am to 6:00pm, right here in good ol' NYC. This is the third time we'll be going, and we're pretty excited; MoCCA is my favorite small convention (it's nearby and the crowd is literate). At twelve bucks for the weekend, it's a bargain too. And the exhibitor list is fairly freaking impressive this year.
POLL: Will you be attending the MoCCA Art Fest 2004?

4% (30) Yes

39% (271) No

56% (385) Three
686 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

MOCCA rocks, I was there last year (I bought a set of lovely pins). I heartily suggest everyone go, there's a lot of great talent, and a neat selection of original art for sale, too. Scott Morse sold me a fully-painted page for twenty-freakin'-bucks. It was really cool.

In closing, go to the con.

Sorry. Not in the NYC area at the moment. Otherwise, yes. But no.

Never mind your plans. I want to know who I should bribe to get in on the celebrity [goats.com] cameo [goats.com] action [goats.com].

Also, having met a good chunk of these people, and seen embarrassing photos of everyone else, I am struck by the fact that the least accurate among them are Jon and Phillip. Does a ticket to rising stardom - being drawn into Goats - not in fact guarantee an airbrushed, better-than-life representation? I mean, look at how well Scott Baio is treated. Perhaps your standards are falling.

I've asked this before, but I don't think I've ever gotten a decent answer. Are there any sort of bad vibes between Goats and PvP? The quote Kurtz had in TYMA suggests that he thinks you (and by "you", I suppose he means Jon & Phillip) hate him, unless that was just a joke. I can't really tell which.

In fact, the 3 webcomics I read regularly are represented in today's strip: PvP, Penny Arcade, and of course Goats.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure where Scott got the impression that I dislike him. I'm jealous of his success, to be certain, and I disagree with his rants on occasion, but it takes a lot more than that for me to work up the energy to feel antipathy for someone.

I've only met him once, and he pretty much ran away from me, so I can't even comment on what he's like in person. But his strip is consistently good.

I'd love to make it, but since I live in Alaska, its a bit of a commute. Kind of takes the fun out of it.

I'll be sure to watch for descriptions tho.

We'll try and lure the five readers of our comics who never heard of Goats to the table next week.

I hope you like depressed 14 year old readers! =D

Yes, this will be my first con actually. I've recently been writing for a studio in Ireland, my director there turned me onto it, so I thought I should delve into the world I'm trying to operate in. Sounds like a good time.
