Huge Casebound Book Sale

Tuesday, April 27, 2004 - 08:35 AM

Phillip's getting a bunch of construction done on his apartment starting in May; some kitchen renovation and that sort of thing. He needs to clear out pretty much everything he owns so the construction workers can come in and do their thang unimpeded. This includes our servers, which will be moving from their old home in Phillip's apartment to their new home in a hosting facility. More on that later.

You can help clear out Phillip's apartment too by ordering one or more of our Limited Edition Casebound Books. These hardcover beauties are on sale for the next couple of weeks while construction begins. I've cut the prices pretty much down to the bone -- this is as cheap as they're gonna get (prices for Premium members are absolutely ridiculous at this point). So if you've been waiting to buy these, now is the time.

Books are $39.95 a pop ($29.95 for Preemies), two-book bundles are $74.95 ($54.95), and all three are $99.95 ($74.95). If you order before construction begins, we'll throw in a free minicomic and more stickers than you'll know what to do with.

I have a very small number of matched sets left, where each book you get will be the same number of the sequence. Also, I've been pretty careful about recording which numbers I sent to which readers, so if you already have one or two of the books, odds are pretty good that I can match your number. However, once the last few matched sets are sold, that will no longer be possible. So if you're interested in either of those situations, your best bet is to order quickly.

If you've ever thought about getting one of these oh-so-pretty versions of the books, do so now. I'm significantly happier carrying them to the post office for you than I am stacking boxes of them in the bedroom to deal with working around for the next couple of months.

Not to hijack the thread...but was there supposed to be anything else (like stickers) in the vol 1&2 shipment? 'cause I think mine was opened.

Cilp, when you buy a shirt at the Gap and the shirt goes on sale six months later, do you go yell at them too? You've had the use of your latest book purchase book for six months (not to mention the prevous books, which came out years ago). Is that worth nothing?

Does selling an item at one price mean the price can never change? What would happen to the retail world as a whole if people expected that of stores everywhere? How long should we wait until we put things on sale? Should we consult with you first?

I think your complaint is ridiculous, frankly, but I like to keep our readers happy, even when they're being unreasonable. If you can think of some reasonable way we can make this horrible injustice up to you, let me know and I will do it.

I personally think that being able to read the fresh, new books right away is worth the extra howevermuch I paid for them. While I might lament the sale, I'm in no way upset at this turn of events. I'd gladly support Goats' new products as they come out.

It can be thought up like this, You could afford it at its original price, and now people who couldn't afford it before, can now get it.

Well, if you were in any other forum, that answer might be true. Here at goats, however, your anonymous posts are decorated in the face of poop, which fills all of us registered people with uncontrollable rage, no matter how poignant your posts may be. (The rage comes from the monkey injection kit you get sent in the mail after you register)

So, if you have something worth saying, perhaps registering first is the best way to avoid the fiery, anti-poop-face rage of D000M.

bah, you have no idea do you? Sheesh. Think about it:

You bought the books ages ago and ate rice for a week to pay for them.

Now you can't even remember the desparation bought on by the sight of _another_ bowl of plain rice during that week because you got the books at the end of the week and thought to yourself "well that pain is over and I have happiness here in my hands".

For some masochistic reason you wish to suffer another 4 days of rice ("another" as you can't remember the first week (and so can't prove that it did or didn't happen, which means this round is on top of the other one) and 4 days as the books are now cheaper) on top of the months of no happiness in book form.

Most of us realise that pain in the past is better than pain starting tomorrow.

Of course there is also a more sensible fact to be faced.

YOU DIDN"T HAVE TO BUY THE BOOKS IN THE FIRST PLACE, THE STRIPS ARE ONLINE FOR FREE!

So essentially the money you paid for the books was an act of supporting a comic you like, now you want to support it less?

Also if you are not a premium member you could become one and so get your loyalty program right there.

pfft. tool. If I were near you I'd hold my hand up for your shaking head to whack into...

oh man you try and pull that shit and I'll come kill you myself.

LG: you are a tool. face it. If you'd had even a basic sense of netiquette you'd have read the forum at least a couple days before posting. Then you would realise that we don't like you. By not registering we have no idea where to direct our displeasure, that riles us up good, in the manner a rubber dog does canadians.

so now that we know why you are a tool can I suggest that when you register (tool concealment procedure) you remove any reference to the name you have put at the bottom of your post.
