I-CON Rocks!

Monday, March 29, 2004 - 11:38 AM

Just wanted to thank all the wonderful people who came by our table and said hello at this year's I-CON. We had an amazing time (as always), and the panels were especially fun thanks to fellow cartoonists Randy Milholland, Tim Buckley, J.D. "Illiad" Frazer, Ghastly, and Rob Balder. When we first started attending I-CON, we used to have to cancel half the panels we sat on because of low attendance, but this year we had audiences of close to 100 people. A bit intimidating, but I think it's indicative of a wider acceptance of webcomics by folks as a legitimate form of entertainment, art, time-wasting, etc. Whatever it is, it's all good.

I live in Maine and I was wondering if you guys went to any conventions here and if yes, which ones?

There are people in Maine?

If there are any conventions there that you know of, and would be appropriate for us, and they want us there, feel free to let us know.

Basically, we're cool with going to just about any cons that will cover our transportation and lodging expenses, and give us a table to hawk our wares. Larger conventions tend to pay for themselves in merchandise sales, but unless our costs are covered for the smaller ones, we end up losing a lot of money. That said, small conventions are fun and we get to do a lot more interacting with fans, which is always great.

So while you may not be able to cover our plane ticket to Seattle, the con may.

*sniffles* I suppose that means there's no hope of getting you to return to UberCon [ubercon.com], then.

It's a shame, too; I was hoping to add Diablo or Fish to my art [ubercon.com] collection [ubercon.com]. Damned if I know where I have room, though.

We'd be happy to return to Ubercon if they'll cover our costs. We lost a lot of money on the first one due to extremely low attendance and I won't make that mistake again.

Hey Jon, I really enjoy seeing you guys at conventions. Last year it was Ubercon, BAAF, and Icon. I missed you at Ubercon for obvious reasons. I still didn't get you the picture(s) from BAAF.

BAAF Picture [masonfam.org]

Than there was the pictures from the last Ubercon... but that was before I got to know how cool you guys were. The only pic I have that you may remember is the 1lb burger [masonfam.org]..

Oh and Icon 2003 (er, #22), I got a pic [masonfam.org] of your guys there.

Needless to say, you guys rock my small self-centered world! Looking forward to seeing you guys more and maybe hanging out.

Well, almost. You are missing my name - which is Katie - but otherwise, it's a stunning likeness. Much better than the red-eyed stuff I found.

I'm glad you were there. I actually only started reading Goats a few weeks before the con, because I came across it on the I-con web page. So I started reading, then I ended up buying the books, and now I'm hooked.

Dammit.
