Since everyone in this forum obvously has great taste in comics, I was wondering what other comics you frequent. If there are any unknown comics that I'm missing out on. My list of pages to check daily is:
As If!
Boy on a Stick and Slither
Ctrl+Alt+Del
Diesel Sweeties
Everything Jake
Goats
Mac Hall Comics
Movie Punks
orneryboy
Penny Arcade!
PvP
Residence Life
Return to Sender
Sam and Fuzzy
Saturnalia
Scary Go Round
Sluggy Freelance
Something Positive
Striptease
Theater Hopper
Tremble
WIGU
You Damn Kid
Zach's Musings

I tend to stay with a comic if they have good art, even if the storylines are not the best.

I very highly recommend:

Nuklear Power - home of 8-bit theater [nuklearpower.com]

I suggest going into the archive and starting at the very beginning in order to familiarize yourself with the cast and plots. Also, this comic is rife with sarcasm; in fact, the vast majority of its humor depends on an appreciation of bitter irony. So if that's not your thing, you won't be very amused. This is an old-skool sprite-comic, so appreciation of its visual art may not be the primary hook to keep you coming back.

And on a topic slightly askew: my favorite comic strips of all time are gradually being archived at ucomics.com [ucomics.com]. They are Bloom County/Outland [ucomics.com], and Calvin and Hobbes [ucomics.com].

I have a regular regimen of comics I check out daily... even though some are not updated daily (like this one). Occasionally, I'll pop over to Penny Arcade [penny-arcade.com] to see what they're mocking this month.

The comics I read at the beginning of each day they're posted:
Goats, Scary-go-round, Diesel Sweeties, WIGU, Anti-hero for Hire [antiheroforhire.com], Penny-Arcade, Sluggy, PVP, Adventurers! [adventurers-comic.com], RPG World [rpgworldcomic.com], and 8-bit theatre.

Comics that should be quicker in production because I need them like a heroin addict and I don't get my fix:
Bob the Angry Flower [angryflower.com] (The only thing I'd be more willing to subscribe to than goats ;), and Patent Pending [goats.com] (Ahem).

Dead ones I wish would live again:
Waiting for Bob. [waitingforbob.com], Space Moose [spacemoose.com], The Parking Lot is Full [plif.com].

Only linked the ones that were unlinked before. And although it's usually tacky to reply to one's own post, I ended up ranting about various things, and will break it up by topic for those who'd like to ignore things. I doubt this removes the tackiness, but by acknowledging it I make it's power my own. Mwahahaa!

(It's an exceedingly dull day at work.)

In Response to mcgrue (#8128):

The most glaringly overrepresented genre that I've seen in the comic world is the tech-geek/general-gaming comics, pandering to slashdot sheep and the internet gaming addicts out there. PVP [pvponline.com] and Penny Arcade are the only ones I read daily there. PA's awesome just for Gabe's thrice-weekly ranting, and just like Scott Baio knows poop is funny, Gabe's confident and correct that wangs are also funny. I liked PVP before it made it big time. Kurtz can be a bit heavy-handed in his opinions and mockery, but I find it entertaining nonetheless.

Although I'm perpetually intrigued by the 'scandal' he seems to've attracted in the past? Am I wrong in fingering some past and/or current contempt for both PVP and Sluggy?

Speaking of Sluggy, I still read it daily out of habit established 5 years ago. It used to be pretty darn funny, but since it moved to a more serial/episodic mode, it's kinda had the feel of a popular anime series to me: Pretty good for a while, then lingering way too long as fanservice. Some people like that, but it seems very serial-authory to me. Although, in it's defense, It's still funny to me at times... just not with the frequency of old.

I also read Angst Technology [angsttechnology.com] and GPF [gpf-comics.com], although I do this every few weeks.

There appears to be a plethora of really really bad console RPG-based strips, often abortive little things that make the same jokes over and again. However, I find myself liking Mark Shallow's Adventurers! [adventurers-comic.com] (good writing, bad art), Ian J's RPGWorld [rpgworldcomic.com](okay writing, very nice art indeed), and the already mentioned 8-bit theatre (good writing, intresting mix of photoshopping and pixel-art evolved from it's roots as a pixel-screencap comic).

A few notes about Adventurers!...

The writing is serial, yet I don't believe it's ever had a punchlineless strip. It's a comedic comic without aspirations of real drama... which is cool to me since it's portraying a generic console RPG, which often take themselves absurdly seriously these days.

Sadly, the art really started terrible, and has improved considerably, but is still... somewhat unimpressive. And although the writing is very clever, the material is unaccesible to non-RPG players.

I ended up reading most of the dumbrella comics independantly before there was this whole collective consortium of cool comics... although I wasn't a daily reader of When I Grow Up. (WIGU, however, is supremely awesome.)

I also think that John Allison's too harsh about Bobbins, which I loved in all graphical forms. I was leary of Scary-go-Round at first, fearing a complete change in everything I liked he did, but I got over that very rapidly.

In fact, the only thing that bothers me about Bobbins/SGR is Rich Tweedy. What happened? Is it, in fact, the obvious?

Anti-hero for Hire [antiheroforhire.com] is Marc Shallow's other currently active strip, which is a self-serious superhero satire. Somewhat overdone subject matter in other media, but I really haven't seen much of any superhero stuff online. And it's pretty cool. This [antiheroforhire.com] is a good litmus test to see if you'd like it (5 page mini-comic), though it's largly mood/setup. The strip itself has a higher page/punchline ratio.

Bob the Angry Flower is cooler than anything ever. Even Ice-9.

Space Moose was the first webcomic I ever read, and one of the first I even recall existing on the intarwebnet highway. It was a completly and utterly wrong strip. Take Bender, and remove all of his family-friendly qualities. Take Captain Kirk, and replace his heterosexuality with omnisexuality. Of special note was that Space Moose and Bob the Angry Flower both started out as college paper comics at the same college [ualberta.ca]. Alberta must have funny in their water.

At any rate, if anyone knows where I can buy a copy of the book, I really want one now that the web archives are gone. Procrastination wasn't it's own reward in this case.

Waiting for Bob was lightheartedly funny and had an intresting graphical style. I largely read it because of Fleen [fleen.com].

Boxjam's Doodles [boxjamsdoodle.com] are very cool, and although he's quite self-deprecating about his minimalistic art, it's consistant and stylistically awesome in it's own right. And the writing is superb. I only discovered it recently, but is one of those strips I finished the archives of in one night. He also likes goats [goats.com], showing a refinement in taste we can all associate with.

The Parking Lot is Full (PLIF) was cool because it was better than all of the Far Side imitators that were syndicated combined. And it's only similarity with the Far Side was it's common one-panel format (although there were multiple-panel ones), and it's inane humor.

And User Friendly was never funny. End of line.
