Goats Beer Exchange (Part II?)

Well, Zamphir and Oedipa Maas seem to have had a good experience with this, and I'm eager to be a part of it for a round!

Can either of you share the rules, requirements, and so on for such a venture?

Rules? Our current system is based on tit for tat (hehe, she said tit). You ship a quantity of beer and you receive a similar quantity of beer.

Recently Zamphir and I have been trying to recruit other people to our beer exchange cause to little avail, and I'm thrilled to see another is truly interested. Where, geographically, are you?

Any others interested? A fourth person would help the exchange be true.

Ah, I see. Tit for tat. I'll be sure to stock up on tats, then.

Anyway, goegraphically, I'm located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. This puts me roughly four hours north and west of Zamphir.

I'm pleased that my interest could help spark a new beery exchange. And I'll repeat the plea... Anyone up for being a fourth? It's sure to be worth your while!

You must drive the speed limit. I've done it in three.

Well, I've made it to the western edge of St. Paul in 3. Y'all have *no* idea how to drive on highways up der. Nobody seems to be able to merge without coming to a full and complete stop.

Merging is definitely an adventure on the highways up here. Fortunately for me, having grown up in Wisconsin, I happen to be a bit more adept at it than the rest of the people I encounter...

As for the speed limit, well, it all depends on how much incentive I have. I think I made the trip from Minneapolis to Madison in about 3 and a half hours when I was on the way to my State Street bachelor party. A lot of the details of that weekend are hazy now, though.

I am in Los Angeles, but in no way am I any kind of beer expert. But i'm still willing to try.

Okay, it looks like we've got four. That's great, that's enough for another round.

We don't want to close this off to other people, so if you're interested, please speak up!

I see Jason has added an email address to his profile. That's great, we can conduct some of this offline.

I seem to remember that Dynedain had posted something resembling an email address at one point, but am not going to dig through and try and find it. Please either add one to your profile, or send me a private email. Unless you really want to post your shipping address here?

I think the the thing we should start on is the number of beers to exchange. Mel and I did lots of beer last time, and it cost rather some money for shipping. I could do the same again, but don't want to force other people to spend more than they're willing.

I propose shipping the equivalent of one six pack of bottles - i.e. roughly 6 pounds. This should be very reasonable to ship, particularly if done as regular slow mail.

Once we agree on that, the next step I think is to decide who's swapping with whom.

Shipping a six-pack of bottles (mixed brands/styles, I assume?) sounds fine to me.

I suppose the complex way to arrange the exchange would be for me to ship to Zamphir, who would ship to Dynedain, who would ship to Oedipa Maas, who would ship to me... Although it may be easier for me to ship to Oed, and vice versa, and Zamphir to swap with Dynedain (as Zamphir and I could theoretically just drive the 3.5 to 4 hours and drink together in person).

But, I will, of course, bow to the group consensus on this

hmmm...i have an email address associated w/ these forums...but for some reason, can't seem to find a way to turn on the display feature...PHILLIP!!!

anywho...untill then, I guess goats@anthonymclin.com will suffice...or maybee beerexchange@anthonymclin.com....it doesn't really matter...anything sent to any address at that domain (except for a couple certain ones i have blocked for spam reasons) will get to me.

as for who to exchange w/...any which way is fine....question though...do you normally send 6 different bottles of beer? or 1 6pack?

I was thinking six *different* beers, yes, or at least three different kinds (no more than two of the same beer).

It does make life a little more difficult, in that you might not be able to buy beer in onesies. But that just means more beer for you, right?

Oh, I can find plenty of info about good beer in LA (I've had quite a bit too...). The trick is finding it in bottles.
