Berke Breathed Back in Business?

I think if Berke actually started drawing comics again [mediainfo.com], I would be the happiest boy in Happytown. There'd be no need for me to draw comics anymore.

There'd be no need for me to draw comics anymore.

Is that because,
a) All your free time would be spent reading the comic?
b) Seeing his artwork vs. yours would so depress you that you'd quit? ;)
c) You want us to go insane by the glee of Berke's potential return against the sadness of the end of Goats.
d) Like in the Highlander, "There can be only One."?

I wouldn't go that far ... I'd love to see both Bloom County and Goats together, if only for the possibility of a Diablo/Opus crossover (confrontation?) someday.

Besides, with Bloom County back in the newspapers, it'd be much harder for the drooling imbeciles currently in charge of picking syndicated comics that animals and people can't possibly co-exist [goats.com] in comic strips.

In Response to Rich (#6136):

All of those are reasons why he would want to stop.

He's talkin' bout need, son.

What he's saying is that the gaping void in the universe he saw created when Berke Breathed stopped writing comics gnaws at his soul. It gnaws at him so much that in order to halt it, he's drawn NAY FORCED to write and draw Goats.

But that kinda vision and obsession is what makes him who he is. He is the savior of us all...

It's mythological - like "The Lion King".

Or something he really needs to see a doctor about, kinda hard to tell from here.

Opus and Diablo? Too disparate of characters.
More like Diablo and Steve Dallas, or maybe Portnoy if you need animal-animal interaction.

What I don't understand about Watterson is... well, what happened to him? I mean, Breathed stopped doing comics, but he still does other stuff -- maybe not at the same rate he used to, but some. The same thing's true with Larson. Meanwhile, watterson ends Calvin and Hobbes, and just sort of disappears off the face of the Earth. He's not doing more C&H, he's not writing a book (comic or otherwise), he's just stopped producing things. His creative impulses seem to have completely stopped for an extended period of time, and speaking as an aspiring stand-up comic/author, I can't imagine that happening. Is he actually working on some large project in secret? Or is his anger at decals of Calvin pissing on things keeping him from getting anywhere near a pencil? It all seems strange to me.
