- Sports Night [tktv.net] was one of the greatest shows of all time.

2. There's something strangly intriging about that show. It's not extreamly interesting, but is written very cleverly.(Meaning everyone is witty)
Hey by the way, you do know that sports night is on comedy central really late at night all the time now.
I found religion watching the show Two Stupid Dogs!

There's a book that could be written about what's bugging me tonight, but suffice it to say that my oldest friend in the world is setting himself up for a big fall, and he won't listen to anyone about it, especially me. He's getting played like an indoor sport, but sometimes you just have to let people make their own mistakes, I guess. Life would be easier if people didn't want "relationships". Of course, there's a bit more to it. Add to all of that a good pound and a half of jealousy, bitterness, and regret, and you know what you've got? You've got the makings.
To paraphrase, 'I understand what makes a man think that being with someone is better than nothing. I'll just never understand what makes a man think he's got nothing.'

It's not a realistic environment at all-- sports night, that is-- everyone is too quick-witted. There are certain episodes that set Jeremy up as the "knower of all things", as well. The show was good, though, especially because of that Aaron Sorkin-ish style. I enjoyed the show's fast-paced dialogue, as it's a completely different form than most shows take. It was also completely sarcastic/accurate toward corporate/network politics. That's probably what ABC didn't like.

It's okay; it's a bug in our code. Our fault.
You can bug Phillip about it, though. He probably won't have time to fix it, but it'll really irritate him, which in turn makes me very happy.
"I don't wanna be an inventor. I wanna be something useful like a teacher's aide or a prison guard or a science-fiction cartoon writer." - Cubert Farnsworth
There's no such thing as "Too quick-witted". I don't watch Sports Night for the reality of it, I watch it to have fun.
That said, the entire series is out on DVD [amazon.com] for an extremely reasonable price. I own a set, and anyone worth their salt should too.
Sorkin should rot in Phyllis Diller's vulva for all eternity for letting the show die. He had offers from other networks (not great offers, I'll grant you) and decided he wanted to spend time on West Wing instead. Feh.

How old is your friend? Wait. It seems you're a college student. That 'splains it.
Your friend will get over this experience. He may or may not learn from it. If he does, eventually he'll grow out of doing stuff like this. If he doesn't, eventually you'll grow out of wanting to hang around with someone who purposely makes a mess of their life, cause they can't think of anything else to do.
To be clear, you're not a "boy", right?
Life would not be easier if people didn't want relationships. Relationships are good. Relationships make life better, and help people be better people.
Life would be easier if people didn't make relationships hard. But, in fact, that's really hard to do. It takes some time and effort to figure out how to make it easier on someone else. Just think about how much you've learned about being in a relationship since you started dating.
Hang in there. It does get better, if you let it.

Don't knock the man for being a geek, yo.
The cancelling of the show only had some to do with what ABC liked or didn't like. Sorkin wanted to devote more time to West Wing. Which only got better when Malina joined up.

I wasn't giving "too quick-witted" as a problem with the show, I was just saying that it's something that clearly defines it as an unreal world. I own a set of the DVDs as well, and watch them instead of going to church.
If you're intrigued, there's a group of die-hard fans who have contributed to create a Virtual Season 3 [tripod.com] of Sports Night, and they're pretty good, I have to say.

You're right, you're right, you're right.
Yeah, I'm still in college, but my friend is pretty young (17), even for a young punk like me (22).
<self-degradation>Well, if you can take this without judgement or pity, then yes, I'm a boy as well. I can see the headlines now, "mostly-gay boy participates in online forum". Let's take a vote and see how many people hate me all of a sudden.</self-degredation>
I don't know how far we should go into this on a Goats forum, since these are pretty light-hearted for the most part. There's a lot of history for me. Let's just say that I have to make some amends with my past and with "who I am" before I no longer make relationships hard. Argh. Blerg. I think that about sums it up.

Please don't get me wrong. I was asking about it just to make sure I knew who I was talking to, and not to pass any sort of judgement on you either way.

I'm sure you're not the only one.
Again, and especially if your friend is 17, he's just being young. Everyone has to make a few mistakes before they learn how to handle these things normally.
This is also true of you. If you've made some mistakes about relationships in the past, it's part of growing up. Everyone has a regret or two in this area.
What makes you "who you are" is how you deal with those things.
None of this makes it easier to be who you are right now. Can't do that, sorry. Although you might try thujone... ;-)

See, one shouldn't post when one is in a bad mood. I'm sorry for all those things you had to quote, it was a lousy day. Anyhow, as to my 17-year-old friend, he was a big part of my life over the past few years, beginning in the summer of 2000 when I had one of those world-ending question-everything-and-everyone life-changing experiences that you read about in bad teen magazines. He was a sort of comfort and pillar of strength, if you will. I've kinda grown out of needing that as much, and now we're both struggling to figure out how he fits into my life... not to mention that he's grown up quite a bit as well. Anyhow, enough rambling. Thanks for the advice, it was gladly taken. New subject? New Subject!

there's another virtual season 3 (as well as 4, and some of 5) over at sports night on csc [aol.com]. those are good, too.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
