Johnny Cash Covers NIN
posted Tuesday, February 18, 2003 - 02:29 PM (#3996)
This may be old news [yahoo.com], as I don't watch a lot of MTV these days, so excuse me if you've seen this before, but I thought it was worth sharing. Johnny Cash is a guilty pleasure of mine, and it was extremely bizarre and quite cool to watch the video [markromanek.com] for his cover of Nine Inch Nails' Hurt. I used to listen to a lot of NIN as a disaffected college student, so this kinda brings it full-circle for me. The video is surprisingly emotional.

You should not feel guilty about liking Johnny Cash in the Ring Of Fire.

It could have been worse. Johnny Cash might have covered "Closer" instead. The prospect of Johnny Cash telling you that he wants to fuck you like an animal is too scary to contemplate.

So don't contemplate it.

Too late....

Haven't yet seen the Hurt video, but I like his cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus."

I don't watch too much MTV, pop teens hurt my brain, so I do appreciate the nice link you left for us. I was never a fan of NIN, but I do enjoy Johnny Cash. I was particularly pleased with his cover of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage". I'm sure I will enjoy this as well.

Is there some Johnny Cash alt-rock album floating around that I don't know about?

Nah, these guys just like tricking the new guy into searching for non existent stuff... sad pathetic beasts that they are. Don't worry, Mr Cash hasn't released a track since "Bo Diddley is Jesus" on the "Barbed wire kisses" album.

Tor, are you yanking his chain, or did you honestly not know about this album [amazon.com]? 'Cause that's not a nice thing for a Jedi to do, even if you have gone over to the Dark Side.

Yah, just with the chain and the yanking, I figured the whole topic made the answer rather obvious and went the other way y'see hehehehe... although if the big cash man did do a cover of Bo Didley is Jesus I'd buy it...
